Boot knife with tanto blade, Kobun serrated edge, CST-17TS

Kobun® is a light boot knife in the Tanto style. Its name is taken from the vocabulary of Japanese underground organizations, where Kobun is sometimes used as a denotation of rank, roughly corresponding to the word soldier (a Kobun carries out the orders of his oyabun , the head of his clan). Kobun® is therefore an appropriate name for a knife that was indeed designed to be a good soldier.

This knife has proven incredibly popular with the US Military, who not only appreciate its low weight and slim profile, but also its durability and sharpness.

The Kobun® features the famous American Tanto blade from Cold Steels® with a reinforced tip. The back of the blade is almost uniformly strong all the way to the tip and thus makes the tip particularly resistant to bending and breaking. Despite its narrow profile, the deeply grooved Kray-Ex™ handle offers maximum grip. Its shape prevents the knife from twisting or slipping in your hand.

From 2020, the Kobun® will also be available with a serrated edge.

A Secure-Ex® holster with a sturdy belt/boot clip is included in the scope of delivery.

AUS 8A stainless steel
Cold Steel® has used the same expertly hardened Japanese AUS 8A steel for nearly three decades. This steel has been tested exceptionally well and has proven over the years to be excellently suited for the manufacture of work knife blades – it is tough and corrosion resistant with good edge retention and also easy to sharpen.
