the best swordsmen in the world, it was undoubtedly simple wisdom centuries ago: a reasonably good
To be a swordsman, one must strive for the appropriate combat techniques, footwork and to learn basic stances.
If your goal is to handle a sharp blade safely and effectively, you should first practice with a sword that provides the size, weight, and feel of a real, sharp weapon, but has the advantage that you or your training partner can hardly sustain any serious injuries.
This idea was already practiced by the ancient Romans who used wooden swords to train their gladiators and soldiers in sword fighting. And the Japanese samurai also used wooden swords for practice called Bokken.
Bokken was made from an extremely hard wood called kashi (white oak). These wooden swords are a viable solution to an annoying problem and are so effective that they are still used today. Authentic Japanese hardwood bokken are quite expensive. And one disadvantage is also that a wooden sword will rot or tear, it may peel off or splinter. Sooner or later it will become useless.
Cold Steel's solution was to develop a suitable synthetic replacement, with an almost unbeatable price and very resistant to the elements. All products in the Cold Steel Training Weapons collection are made from the highest quality polypropylene. They correspond in length, weight and handling to their real role models quite surprisingly. These training weapons are not as rigid as wooden swords and have the distinct advantage of being almost unbreakable, extremely hard and resistant to cutting.
Cold Steel Japanese Training Swords are the famous swords from the Warrior Series model. Their broadswords have the same flowing lines as the Warrior Swords, but are made of extremely durable polypropylene and have no sharp edges or sharp points. With proper protective equipment, they are ideal for training and sparring, as well as for conditioning and training exercises.
Each model also has a handle that closely mimics the traditional rope and
provides excellent control even with thick gloves. These swords offer the modern martial artist a potential of
above average training.
