A Hauberk is a long-sleeved, approximately knee-length mail hauberk . Ring armour of this type was already in use by the Celts and Romans and was used in Europe until the 14th century, when it was superseded by late medieval plate armour .
A Hauberk usually covered almost the entire body. This historically authentic cut has often been extended with front or side slits for better legroom for the wearer. This means that these long hauberks can even be comfortably worn by riders on horseback.
Our Hauberk is basically slotless so that the customer can attach them individually if necessary. In addition, it has tapered sleeves that taper around a ring every 5 cm.
The chain link By the way: This unriveted chain link is made of high-quality spring steel. Due to its good price-performance ratio, it is ideal for beginners who still value good protection and solid quality. The braiding is 4 in 1.
We call this type of braiding BTW (English = B utted T ensile W IRE).
The rings are untreated so they may rust, but they give the braid an authentic look.
Our Ulfberth Hauberks are basically available in three standard sizes (M, L and XL). The dimensions of the individual sizes are measured in full stretch.
Details:
- inner diameter: approx. 8 mm
- ring thickness: approx.1.6 mm
- finish: untreated (lightly oiled)
