The model for this motif was an illustration in an early medieval manuscript, the Book of Kells.
These are the CÅμn Annwn (also: Cŵn Annwn), the dogs of the underworld or otherworld in Welsh mythology. The three chasing dogs form a triskelion in the middle with their runs. In Celtic culture, this triple spiral represents the trinity of life, death and rebirth.
This beautiful decoration of
wooden wall was hand carved.
