Imperial Roman Helmet Type Gallic H
Authentic replica of a 1st century Roman helmet based on a find in Augsburg, Germany.
The imperial helmet type was a type of helmet worn by Roman legionaries.
Before the Empire, Roman Republican soldiers wore their own equipment, which was passed down from father to son. When the professional Imperial army emerged, the soldier never discarded his equipment. Once the improved Imperial helmet appeared, it replaced the old Coolus helmet, which was largely superseded by the Montefortino helmet. This constituted the final evolutionary stage of the legionary helmet (galea).
Our Roman helmet is handcrafted from 18 gauge steel and brass and has the typical hemispherical bowl with an angled neck guard as well as hinged cheek pieces to protect the face. It has an inner lining for a touch of comfort and can be adjusted with a strap.
This case is perfect for any Roman reenactment.
