"I think I see them!" one of the younger children shouts, his voice full of excitement and impatience. You stand on the shoreline, seagulls squawking, one hand on your prominent belly and the other shielding your face from the harsh sunlight, watching as the red and white sails draw nearer with the promise of exciting new tales and exotic goods. The longing has been tormenting you.

Very few things offer greater protective qualities than steel, when it comes to historical armor. But steel also has disadvantages such as weight, inflexibility, and the need for constant maintenance to protect against rust. However, in this day and age, unless you're in reenactment or on the SCA battlefield, you simply don't need the level of protection that steel offers.
