The high medieval helmet suitable for display camps that we offer here is a reproduction of a transitional form of the closed helmet , used by the Crusaders / Templars in the late 12th century. and were used early 13th century. This type of helmet is considered to be the precursor or early form of the large helmet, also known as bucket helmet or barrel helmet (in English, great helmet or big helmet or big helmet ).
This beautiful medieval helmet is based on an illustration from the illuminated Westminster Psalter circa 1250. and is attributed to the English Benedictine monk Matthew Paris ( Matthew Paris , 1200-1259). It is made of 2 mm steel and is decorated with a brass cross and crown. Each of the viewing slots is about 8 cm long, 1 to 1.5 cm wide and numerous recesses ensure the necessary air circulation. The individual parts of the knight's helmet are connected to each other by steel rivets.
The blackened interior is provided with an adjustable padded inlay made of cotton fabric. The 3mm thick brown leather chin strap is adjustable and has a brass buckle (with an antique finish).
