MARTO medieval armor helmet
The helmet is the 'piece of armor that covers and defends the head'.
In the early medieval centuries, a simple metal helmet was used to protect the head, conical in shape, without a visor or jugular veins, to which a straight nasal appendage was added in the 10th century. Later, the visor, a mobile part and the most important part, was added. important part of the helmet, intended to cover the warrior's face during combat, which was raised when there was a need to get some air and examine objects better.
In the Middle Ages it consisted of three parts:
• the visor itself, in which there were holes or slits to allow free passage of air and facilitate vision: this part protected the eyes
• the nasal
• the window
The visor is a very ancient invention, as it can be seen on the helmets of the Greeks and Etruscans, as well as those used in the 10th century and later.
