The pelvic hood, also known as the kettle bell or Bascinet , was developed in the early 14th century from the so-called brain bell and spread throughout Central Europe until the 15th century.
The reconstruction of a late medieval basin bell offered here was made from 1.6 mm (16 gauge) steel and then polished. The helmet has a movable, fully removable visor, which is held securely in position with pins and chains. The folding visor is equipped with a rectangular viewing slot approximately 2 to 2.5 cm wide, and the numerous round recesses in the lower half ensure the necessary air circulation.
The interior is provided with a fine leather inlay attached to the helmet bowl with rivets. The 2 mm thick black leather chin strap is fitted with a steel buckle.
