The beard is the part of European, late medieval and early modern helmets that covers the wearer's chin and neck. The beard is made of steel. It protected the wearer's face and maintained good view from the helmet. This form of visor was the precursor to the staking visor, which could be attached or detached directly from the helmet with the aid of lockable pins. Forged from 18 gauge steel and ready to wear. Diameter: approx. 63 cm.
