Description
The Norman 'Nasal' Helmet was based on earlier Viking helmet designs and could be worn over a chainmail coif or with a chainmail collar to protect the neck. The nose bar was designed to protect the face but meant that Knights were often unrecognisable. The famous Bayeux Tapestry shows William the Conqueror tilting his helmet back to reveal his face and prove to his soldiers that he was still alive!
Specs:
Made of 2mm steel and 3mm steel nosepiece. The thickness of the steel may vary due to the artisanal manufacturing of our products. Carbon steel is not treated so it may rust, which is easily removable. You can protect this item from rust with synthetic or mineral oil.
