The medieval man at arms was a brave and loyal fighter filled with bellicose heroism who mastered a variety of weapons with great skill. A veteran of countless battles, he was often the first to leap into battle. In honor of these rugged and devoted roving soldiers, Cold Steel® created the Man at Arms collection of weapons.
Compared to premium versions from Cold Steels®, these combat-ready weapons lack the usual silver-polished steel elements, but in terms of quality and performance, MAA series products come close to matching the others. And when properly oiled, they reveal their inherent, radiant beauty.
The Man at Arms collection offers a selection of some of the best Cold Steel® products, but at a significantly lower price. If you've always wanted to own a sharp Cold Steel® weapon, but have never been able to afford it, this collection is made for you.
Switzerland has a reputation for being a nation of marksmen. This is mainly due to the fact that conscripted men are legally obliged to keep their personal service weapon at home and are allowed to have it after they have completed their time of service, and with the appropriate permit. However, this is a relatively new development. For three hundred years, from the 12th century onwards, the Swiss were greatly feared for the terrible havoc they could wreak on the battlefield with their infamous halberds - the helmet mustard effectively combined the best qualities of the lance , battle axe and grappling hook into one devastating weapon. It could penetrate the strongest armoured steel and shatter a tough helmet or shield. The 'beak' of the mustard could also be used to tear a heavily armoured knight from his horse so that his brothers in arms could hunt him down.
The Cold Steel® Swiss Halberd offered here is nearly identical to its heavy-duty historical counterpart, but is made from modern materials. The tip, axe, and pick (rending hook) are all fully sharpened. This multifaceted weapon can make short work of even a heavily armed and armored enemy.
