Half basket sword

This sword has very close links to the English basket hilt and is sometimes referred to as an English half basket. This design was carried by both the Royal and Parliamentary Household Cavalry. In fact, it can be considered the 'great-grandfather' of the cavalry sabres of the 18th and 19th centuries. One of the finest originals of this type of sword was owned by Oliver Cromwell, General of the Parliamentary Forces, and is now in the Royal Armouries in London.

This sword has a full tang of blackened steel, and a high carbon steel blade. The wooden pommel is leather wrapped and has scrollwork.

Comes equipped with matching sheath.
