The blade of this Rapier is made of 1065 carbon steel. The beauty of this Rapier lies in its sturdy pommel and its elegant and elaborate hand guard.
A Rapier of this shape and identical proportions is currently housed at The Royal Armouries (formerly The Tower of London). The incredibly striking hilt is both beautiful and functional. The base of the handguard is pierced and depicts magnificent birds among the the foliage. The handguard is impressive and elaborately designed with interlaced lines of metal and finished in an upward loop designed to catch the opponent's sword. The heavy pommel provides a more balanced feel for fighting. The blade is engraved in both sides of the ricasso with the Latin phrase CHRISTUS IMPERAT meaning "Christ's Commands".
