The Normans spread to England, Sicily and other areas of Italy as mounted warriors, known for their long mail coats, teardrop shields (kite shield) and conical helmets. This type of helmet with a forward-facing and slightly curved peak was very popular. The conical shape allows the blows received to slide off, protecting the face and nose with the nose guard that does not impede vision.
This helmet has a beautiful antique finish with an adjustable liner.
