The Hundsgugeld is a variation of the late medieval Pelvic Hood. Until about 1420, the Hundsgugeld was the preferred helmet form among knights and warriors. The distinctive visor design helped this helmet earn its name Hundsgugel (=dog's head) and its widespread use throughout Central Europe.
Our helmet is based on a Milan helmet circa 1390 AD, made of elaborate, riveted steel armor with bronze trim.
The helmet has a movable and removable visor, and has a comfortable leather strap.
