Emperor helmet, from a find near the camp gate and later Fort Gelduba (Krefeld-Gellep, Germany). Built between 12 and 9 BC, it played an important role in the Batavia 69/70 n. Chr. and existed until the 5th century.
The helmet combines various stylistic elements in a unique way:
"eyes" - Ornately with raised pupils (as with known pre-Roman helmets), rudimentary raised brow lines (like the Gallic Imperial type) and the cross-shaped reinforcements of the Italic Imperial types.
Neck protector with angled decorations, handle and "Tabula ansata".
The missing, badly damaged original clevis pieces were rebuilt along Imperial hull lines.
Material: steel and brass
Includes a padded inner cotton cap.
Suitable for head circumference up to 60cm.
Long inner distance (back of head to forehead): about 21cm
Short inner distance (ear): about 19.5 cm
