By the end of the 12th century, Norman weapons and armaments in Italy had already been adapted to their environment and here too mixtures of northern and southern European forms were created. This helmet is a classic example of this.
The model for this reconstruction is a mural in the church of St. John and St. Paul in Spoleto (Umbria, Italy) dating from around 1170. Helmets of this type were usually worn in conjunction with a chain hood.
The helmet is made of approximately 1.6 mm thick steel sheet and provided with a comfortable Lederinlett along with chin straps.
