Pembridge large helmet, circa 1370, 1.2mm steel
This replica is Sir Richard Pembridge's helmet. The original dates from around 1370 and is now in the Royal Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
The so-called Great Helmets were often smaller, lighter helmets (e.g. brain-hoods) were in use in the Middle Ages in Europe, contemporary illustrations (miniatures) and finds in Germany, Flanders, England, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc., demonstrate the popularity of this type of helmet. These helmets were used, among others, at the Battle of Crécy (1346) and Poitiers (1356).
The helmet has a comfortable leather entry and chin strap with brass buckle.
Due to its low weight it is also suitable for LARP and medieval reenactment, but if you want to use it while fighting, then the battle-ready version with a material thickness of 2 mm is recommended.
