This replica is based on Sir Richard Pembridge's helmet. The original dates back to 1370 and is now in the Royal Scottish Museum in Edinburgh.
The so-called large helmets (in English: large helmets) were often worn with a smaller, lighter helmet (e.g. brain-hoods). They were widespread throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. Numerous contemporary illustrations (miniatures) and finds from Germany, Flanders, England, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc. prove the popularity of this type of helmet. These helmets were used, among others, at the Battle of Crécy (1346) and Poitiers (1356).
The helmet has a comfortable leather entry and chin strap with brass buckle.
