Flintlock blunderbuss, 1231G/L, Non-functional replica
Reproduction of a flintlock blunderbuss made of metal and wood with a simulated loading and firing mechanism.
It is manufactured in Spain by Denix with top quality materials.
Flintlock blunderbusses were substantially very short, with barrels less than 60 cm long, at a time when the barrel of a musket measured more than 90 cm. The firing mechanism was based on a flint stone, which when the hammer was pulled produced the spark that ignited the gunpowder.
All these blunderbusses required manual reloading of their ammunition, which was introduced through the muzzle after each shot. The weapon was generally loaded with a single lead bullet, although it could also be used with several smaller bullets (shot).
This blunderbuss, used in the 18th century as a predecessor of the shotgun, was very inaccurate, which is why it was useful in boarding, during naval battles, where combat was at close range. In addition, these weapons were used for a single shot, since the loading method was very slow and there was usually no time to reload it. Therefore, after firing, combatants were forced to draw their sabres or swords or use them as a truncheon, since circumstances did not allow them to reload it in time.
This blunderbuss is made in Spain by Denix with quality wood and metal.
