The ends of Nestel's tapes were often provided with metal sheaths, called Nestel's points, to facilitate their orientation through holes or eyelets. These points were made from non-ferrous metal sheets that were cut and hammered into shape, then pressed onto the nestels or riveted through a hole in the nested, bag-shaped point.
