Spectacular replica of a Kentucky Rifle, USA, 19th century. It is made of wood and metal, made in Spain, it measures 148.5 cm
Flintlock rifles had a flint stone, which when the hammer was pulled produced a spark that ignited the gunpowder. This type of weapon required manual reloading of its ammunition after each shot. The ammunition, which was introduced through the muzzle, consisted of gunpowder, projectile and a paper wad, which served as a plug to keep the two previous ones compressed inside the barrel.
Originally developed in Pennsylvania in the early 1700s, the Kentucky rifle was widely used during the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) as the settlers were familiar with them from hunting. These rifles accompanied early American explorers in the conquest of the West and are often associated with Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. When the American Civil War (1861-1865) broke out, the Confederates used these rifles due to a shortage of weapons.
The American War of Independence was a long conflict between the original Thirteen British Colonies in North America and the Kingdom of Great Britain for eight and a half years, ending with the British defeat at the Battle of Yorktown and the signing of the Treaty of Paris.
The American Civil War or Secession War was a very significant event in the history of the United States of America, which took place between 1861 and 1865. The two sides fighting were the forces of the Northern states (The Union) against the newly formed Confederate States of America, made up of eleven Southern states, which proclaimed their independence.
