Spectacular replica of a . 30 caliber M1 Garand rifle, USA 1932 (World War II). It is made of wood and metal, made in Spain, it measures 110 cm.
The M1 Garand was developed by weapons designer John C. Garand in 1928. It was a gas-operated, semi-automatic rifle fed from an en bloc clip that held eight .30-06 Springfield cartridges; when the last bullet was fired, the empty clip was automatically ejected, producing a distinctive, easily identifiable sound. It had an effective range of 550 m, with high accuracy and firing availability. For these reasons, it became one of the most effective rifles of World War II.
The M1 was the first semi-automatic rifle commonly used by the United States infantry, with over 5,000,000 units being produced. Its simple construction, which allowed for easy cleaning and maintenance, its reliability, and its firepower against their German and Japanese counterparts, who continued to use bolt-action rifles as the standard infantry weapon, gave American soldiers a distinct advantage in combat. General George Patton referred to the M1 Garand as "The greatest tool of war ever created."
For several decades it was used by the US Army in various conflicts: during World War II, the Korean War and, to a lesser extent, during the Vietnam War. Other countries adopted its use: Germany, France, Japan, China, etc. It was also used by guerrillas in South America and during the Cuban Revolution to overthrow the dictator Batista.
It has a simulation mechanism for loading and firing.
