The M1928A1 submachine gun was designed by John Taliaferro Thompson in 1918 and was adopted by the United States Armed Forces in 1938, serving during World War II and later in the Korean War and early in the Vietnam War. It was a favorite of soldiers, criminals, police and civilians alike for its ergonomics, compact size, reliability, high rate of fire in automatic mode and its .45 ACP ammunition. It came with either a 20-round straight magazine or a 50-100 round drum magazine.
It gained a bad reputation during the Prohibition era in the United States (1920-1933). It was frequently featured in the media of the time, when it was the weapon of choice for gangsters. It earned nicknames such as "Trench Broom", "Trench Sweeper", "Chicago Typewriter", "Chicago Piano", "Chicago Style" or "The Chopper".
It has since gained popularity among collectors for its historical significance.
It is manufactured by Denix in Spain with quality wood and metal.
