Impressive replica of a Carabiner manufactured by Enfield. It is made of wood and metal, made in Spain, it measures 140 cm.
In late 1853, the Enfield rifle was approved by the British War Department. It was in production from 1853 to 1867, with approximately 1,500,000 produced; it was widely used in the Crimean War (1853–56) and the American Civil War (1861–65). It was the most widely used rifle, particularly among Confederate troops, who imported more Enfield rifles than any other weapon during the war, purchasing them from private contractors and arms dealers, making it the second most widely used rifle of the war.
The Enfield 1853, also known as the Pattern 1853 Enfield, was a muzzle-loading musket rifle in 15 mm (.577 in) calibre. The rifle had a steel barrel with only three grooves and was attached to the forend by three metal clamps, so the rifle was often called the "three-band pattern". The bullets used were usually of the Minié pattern and were not made by melting lead in a mould, but by cutting a thick lead wire, which gave it greater strength.
The length of the rifle allowed for ranged firing, as a long rifle was required to allow the barrels of the second line rifles to protrude in front of the faces of the men in the first line, in order to protect them; it also allowed the weapon to be long enough when bayoneted to repel a cavalry attack if necessary.
It is manufactured in Spain by Denix with quality wood and metal.
