Very authentic reconstruction of a Roman armor, the so-called
Lorica Segmentata, Newstead type.
Lorica Segmentata was in use by the Roman army for at least 200 years. The earliest finds come from Kalkriese, Germany and date back to 9 AD.
The Newstead type is named after the eponymous southern Scottish village. It was home to the ancient Roman camp Trimontium, in the remains of which the model for our reconstruction was found.
The original of this plate armour is dated between 130 and 280 AD.
The Newstead type is the last armoured version of the Roman army, which later provided its legionaries with the Lorica hamata mail shirt again.
In contrast to the earlier Corbridge and Kalkriese variants, the Newstead tank is not adjustable, but is custom-made. The four armour segments are mounted by carefully designed hooks and push-fit connections.
Our replica fits a user up to approximately 112 cm chest circumference. Of course, the final reach should always be measured over all clothing (upholstery).
