Reproduction of a flintlock pistol with an axe made in Spain by Denix, made of metal and wood with a simulated loading and firing mechanism.
Flintlock pistols, one of the most commonly used firearms by pirates in the 18th century, had a flint stone which, when the hammer was pressed, produced a spark that ignited the gunpowder. All of these pistols required manual reloading of their ammunition after each shot. The ammunition, which was introduced through the muzzle, consisted of gunpowder, a projectile and a paper wad, which served as a stopper to keep the two previous ones compressed inside the barrel.
In combat, these weapons were generally used for a single shot, since the reloading method was very slow and there was usually no time to reload it. Therefore, after firing, combatants were forced to draw their sabres or swords or use the axe of the pistol, since the circumstances did not allow reloading it in time.
This piece is made in Spain by Denix with quality wood and metal.
