The main weapon of the Roman legionaries apart from the shock sword ( Gladius ) was the Pugio dagger, which was worn on the left side of the belt. The Pugio has a broad double-edged blade.
This type of weapon was developed in the Iberian Peninsula and was found from the 2nd century BC. From there it walked in the Roman military equipment. It was the successor of the Parazoniums.
The handle is made of several layers of wood and metal and brass, which are cleverly riveted together.
