The main weapon of the Roman Legionaries was the "pugio" dagger, a shock sword (gladius), which was worn on the left side on a strap. The Pugio has a wide, double-edged blade.
This type of weapon was developed in the Iberian Peninsula and was found from the 2nd century BC. From there, it entered Roman military equipment. It was the successor of the Parazonium. In the 3rd century, the Pugio ceased to be used.
This replica has a classic, wide blade with a short tang. The handle is made up of several layers of wood and metal, which are artfully riveted together.
The sheath of the dagger was made of brown leather with a steel reinforcement for stability. For attachment to the belt there are 4 support rings on the steel frame of the vagina. This Pugio has a blunt cut and a rounded tip.
