Godfred Viking Sword with Scabbard

The Viking sword Godfred with scabbard is a beautiful reconstruction that has its origins in the 8th century. This sword was once used by the feared Danish king Godfred, also known as Gudfred or Gudrá¸d. Godfred lived and died in the most important Viking settlement in Jutland called Haithabu. The sword has a typical shape of an early medieval Viking sword, with a short, forward-curved guard, a straight, double-edged, grooved blade, and a wide pommel with three balls.

The Godfred sword is an exclusively handmade piece. The quillons and the pommel with the three beads are made of heat-treated, malleable cast iron. The blade made of spring steel is continuous up to the pommel and hand-riveted there. The handle is wrapped with a wide leather strap. The blade has a pronounced groove, which gives the sword great elasticity and lightness at the same time. It is hardened to about 48-50 HRC in oil. The blades of the knife are not sharpened.

The sword comes with a very nice wooden scabbard with two buckles attached to straps, allowing you to attach it to your belt or other sword accessories you have. This is the battle-ready version of the Viking Godfred sword.

The battle-ready version of the Godfred sword has a rating of SK-B, indicating that it is specifically designed to be used in battle. The blade, made of EN45 oil-tempered spring steel, has a Rockwell hardness of 48-50 HRC. The overall length of the sword is 95 cm, while the length of the blade is approximately 79.5 cm. The maximum width of the blade is approximately 44 mm. The focus of the sword is located about 17 cm in front of the parier.

The weight of the sword without sheath is around 1340 g. In addition, there is availability of the regular version of the Godfred sword, which is an excellent choice for weapon collectors and Viking history lovers.
