In the 8th century, the Vikings first landed on British shores hoping to obtain easy plunder. But in the 9th century, they changed their strategy and began attacking and conquering lands in England. To do so, they turned to their war equipment and used weapons and tools specifically designed for battle.

One of the most important tools in the Viking warrior's arsenal was the sword. With the proliferation of warfare and territorial expansion, Viking swords became a cultural symbol and a key weapon in Viking warfare. This 10th-century functional Viking sword is an authentic and meticulously detailed recreation of the weapons Viking warriors used at the time.

Details and characteristics of the sword

The regular Viking sword is handcrafted and faithful to historical specifications. The guard and the distinctive five-pronged pommel are forged from steel. The blade is hand-riveted to the pommel. The hilt is wrapped in leather, providing a good grip and an authentic user experience.

Additionally, the blade is made from EN45 spring steel, heat-treated to approximately 48 HRC, giving it great flexibility and a lower weight. The blade's edges are unsharpened, increasing safety during handling and storage.

The scabbard, made of leather-covered wood, features a belt loop (max. 5 cm wide), as well as a richly decorated brass ferrule. The sword has a total length of approximately 95.5 cm, with a blade length of approximately 79 cm and a maximum blade width of approximately 43 mm. The balance point is approximately 16 cm from the guard.
