His First Appearance Was Not in a Marvel Comic Although he's now a Marvel icon, Daredevil first appeared in 1964's Daredevil #1 , created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett . Prior to this, however, there was a character of the same name published by Lev Gleason Publications in the 1940s, although he had no connection to the hero we know today. Your Senses Are at the Level of a Superhero Despite losing his sight in a radioactive waste accident, Matt Murdock's other senses have developed to superhuman levels. His hearing is so sharp that he can detect changes in heart rate, allowing him to tell if someone is lying. Additionally, his sense of touch allows him to read prints in plain ink simply by running his fingers over them. 3. He Was Trained by a Blind Master To become the vigilante we know, Matt Murdock was trained by Stick , a blind warrior who is a master martial artist. He Has Carried Several Swords in His Career Although Daredevil is known for using his signature baton, he has wielded swords on several occasions. In the comic series "Shadowland," when he becomes the leader of The Hand, he uses a katana to dispense justice with more brutal methods than usual. 5. He Has Had Romances with Several Heroines Matt Murdock is not only a great lawyer and hero, but also a heartthrob within the Marvel universe. Among his most notable romances are Elektra , an assassin with whom he has had a stormy relationship; Black Widow , with whom he worked on several missions; and Karen Page , his great tragic love. March 25th. International Tolkien Reading Day March 25 is International Tolkien Reading Day. This date was chosen because it marks the destruction of the Ring and the end of the Third Age in “The Lord of the Rings,” a very important work by Tolkien. Since its first celebration in 2003 by the Tolkien Society in England, International Reading Tolkien Day has been celebrated annually. Tolkien societies around the world usually mark the event on the weekend closest to 25 March. Elendil Sword Lowered! On this day, Tolkien fans gather to read excerpts from his books and celebrate his literary legacy. In Spain, for example, the Sociedad Tolkien Española usually organises various activities in different cities.
