Description
It is more than obvious the importance of leg protection for cavalry, and not only in the 15th century, in general it is one of the protections that can be seen earliest among this type of troops and takes on great importance with the rise of troops on horseback. The intricate work of the German style armour is a work of indisputable beauty and without a doubt the example that we show with this product is a good example. Our version is based on an original armour from southern Germany that is currently on display in a collection in Berlin. This generally reflects the German trend of these times, which can also be seen influencing Belgium and Austria for example. The lateral hinge system is seen for example also in that of Valdemar VI that is currently in the Royal Armouries or in that of the Archduke and later Emperor Maximilian I.
Specs:
Made from 1.2mm steel, this item has a satin finish which means it has a slightly reflective surface, similar to the finishes on many original armours.
Measures:
The product consists of two parts. The upper part corresponds to the quixote with kneepad, the second part corresponds to the greave.
Quixote with knee pad
- 45 cm from the inner thigh to the center of the knee.
- 44 cm from the top center of the quixote to mid-knee.
- 57 cm total length.
- 5.5 cm from the end of the knee pad (peak) to the first hole for attaching the Greaves.
- 7.5 cm from the end of the knee pad (peak) to the second hole for attaching the Greaves.
Greaves
- 26 cm from the fastening button to the start of the instep.
- 36 cm on the side from the longest part to the end of the piece.
Steel thickness may vary due to the handcrafting of our products. Carbon steel is not treated so it may rust, which is easily removable. You can protect this item from rust with synthetic or mineral oil.
