A safe and effective solution for swordsmanship training
Master swordsmen of centuries past knew that to achieve a reasonable level of skill in the art of sword fighting, one had to master the appropriate combat techniques, work on footwork, and master basic stances. But to become a true master of swordsmanship, it was necessary to train with a sharp-edged weapon.
If your goal is to achieve the skill necessary to safely and effectively handle a sharp blade, you must first train with a sword that provides the size, weight, and feel of a real, sharp weapon, but allows you to practice without risking serious injury to yourself or your training partners.
This training technique has been used since ancient times. The Romans used wooden swords to train their gladiators and soldiers in sword fighting and the Japanese samurai employed so-called Bokken, wooden swords made from the extremely hard and wear-resistant wood kashi or white oak. These wooden swords are a viable solution to a vexing problem and are so effective that they are still used today. However, authentic Bokken made from Japanese kashi are somewhat expensive and degradable. Sooner or later, they will become useless.
The solution offered by Cold Steel is a suitable alternative in synthetic material that is both affordable and resistant to the elements.
