The easiest way to measure an existing well-mounted ring is to determine the diameter by hand. Simply place the ring on a measuring tape or ruler. Ideally, you have a sliding gauge. The circumference of your finger corresponds to
the inner circumference and is much more accurate as a measure for determining ring size than the inner diameter measurement. To determine the optimal ring size without an existing ring, use a thread or string to measure the circumference of your finger where you want to wear the ring. You can also wrap a strip of paper tightly around your finger on the wearer, mark the spot, and then measure the length of the strip to the mark (in mm). This value corresponds to the inner ring circumference. What is also important:
Please measure the exact finger on which you intend to wear the ring, as the finger circumference of the right and left hand may differ significantly.
Since ring size changes over time, check to see if the "old" size is still correct.
As the day progresses, your ring size changes. At night, fingers are often thicker than in the morning.
Ring size also changes over the course of your life, e.g. during/after pregnancy, diet or illness. Therefore, do not rely on a size that was determined a long time ago.
The season also influences finger circumference. In summer, fingers are usually thicker than in winter: the higher the temperature, the thicker the fingers.
For optimal wearing comfort, you should choose a larger size for wider rings than for narrow rings.
