Functional Swords Category B | Quality and Balance for Controlled Combat at Espadas y Más

Are you looking for functional swords with a good quality-price ratio? Category B Swords are an excellent option for those who want to start or engage in private combat without needing the highest degree of hardness. In our store, you will find the best models and styles so you can simply browse the catalog and choose the one you like best.

What material are Category B swords made from?

They are functional swords made of high-quality carbon steel, well-balanced and with good tempering, although with lower hardness than Category A Swords. This makes them more accessible without sacrificing solid performance.

What are Category B swords used for?

They are ideal for collection or for controlled battles where no heavy blows are delivered. It is important that all participants in these combats always use swords of the same category. Otherwise, softer blades might not withstand the impact and could break easily against harder weapons.

What is the hardness of a Category B sword?

The minimum hardness for this category is 48 HRC. All models feature a full tang, screwed or welded to the hilt, ensuring structural solidity. The blade hardness varies depending on the type of steel and its heat treatment:

  • EN45 carbon steel with heat treatment: 48-50 HRC
  • AISI 1090 carbon steel: 48-50 HRC
  • 5160 carbon steel: 50 HRC
  • Other types of steel: 44 HRC or greater
