Are decorative swords and katanas legal in Spain/my country?

At Espadas y Más, we clarify that our swords and katanas are replicas for display or collection, not real weapons. In Spain and most Western countries, a license is not required for a decorative, unsharpened sword. However, we always recommend consulting local legislation: for example, the UK prohibits the import of decorative katanas. In general, our products bear safety marks and are considered collector's items. We trust that they will be used responsibly at events or exhibitions.

Can I use the replicas in LARP or historical reenactment?

Yes, many of our replicas and armor are designed with reenactment in mind. For example, the steel Morion Helmet and several functional swords are made for use at medieval or LARP events. However, we emphasize that pieces labeled as "decorative" (such as Frostmourne or Negan's bat) are not for actual contact with people. For safety, we should always use appropriate weaponry (e.g., foam mortars for LARP or reenactment). In summary, many functional swords can be wielded carefully in reenactments, but they should not be used for actual strikes, as some have sharp edges. Check the description: if it says "ideal for light training," then it is suitable for controlled practice.

Are "decorative" and "functional" katanas the same?

No. On our website, we clearly identify functional katanas (real blade) and decorative ones (unsharpened blade). For example, theHattori Hanzo Katanais sold as functional (high-tempered 1065 steel), suitable for display and light cutting under supervision, though primarily for collection. In contrast, a decorative katana is only for display. The product description (Witcher) states that it is primarily for collecting and display and "not intended for combat or practical use." Therefore, the recommended use (cosplay, museum, very controlled training) differs: functional katanas can be used (with caution) in martial arts, while decorative ones are only for shelves.

How to clean and maintain my katanas/swords?

We recommend using a specialized maintenance kit. For example, we offer a Katana Cleaning Set with protective oil, cloth, and traditional tools. To care for any sword, clean the blade with the cloth and oil (to prevent rust) after each use, avoiding fingerprints. Store the weapon in a dry place, and if it is functional, sharpen it only with professional tools. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions (we always include a guide on the product page) and do not leave the sword outdoors.

How do I know my products are authentic/licensed?

Espadas y Más mainly works with official replicas. We indicate this in the descriptions: for example, Legolas's knives are “official replicas manufactured by United Cutlery”. If it is a licensed product (movies, comics, anime), we mention it in the product description and they usually include exclusive logos or engravings (like the Kill Bill katana). The material is also real: we use authentic steel, fine woods, etc. However, “made to order” does not mean forged in Toledo or similar; these are collector's reproductions. If you have any questions, check the manufacturer's brand/model in the product description.

Can I receive my order internationally? What about customs?

Yes, we ship orders internationally with worldwide coverage except Ukraine/Russia. The customer is responsible for local customs and taxes: for example, if your country applies import VAT, this is not included in our price and you are responsible for paying it. If you refuse to pay customs fees or the merchandise is held, unfortunately, we cannot refund you, as customs are beyond our control. Our shipping rates (€39–69) do not include your country's taxes. We recommend checking local import laws before purchasing.

What is the warranty or return period if the product arrives defective?

As an online store in Spain, we give customers 14 days to return any non-personalized item. For manufacturing defect claims, we will also address them within that period. If the product arrives broken or damaged, please send us photos instantly and we will offer a replacement or refund. (All our pages ensure after-sales service to resolve shipping issues.) Remember: the product must be returned in its original condition (unused) and sent by standard courier, not freight collect. After receiving the return, we will refund the amount to your card/bank within a few days.

Can they participate in medieval fairs or festivals with these products?

Yes, we ourselves participate in medieval markets and themed events. Many customers use our replicas for historical fairs or fencing clubs. We recommend carrying safe versions (such as training katanas or LARP swords) instead of metal replicas to public events. Always respect event regulations: some festivals require resistance certification for functional weapons. In summary, for use at fairs, prefer display models and communicate this to the organizers.

How do I declare sword material when importing it through customs?

Our swords are usually declared as "stainless steel/metal collectible replicas". For customs purposes, please indicate this to avoid confusion: e.g., "sword replica – stainless steel". We never lie on the declaration, but we try to use a generic description. If your country requires special permits for "bladed weapons," please ensure you comply with them before purchasing.
