A brief overview of the Hashira's skills and techniques. What makes them special, why they're considered elite among hunters, and what sets them apart.
After telling you about the Pillars, now we'll tell you about the skills that make them stand out from the rest. Water Pillar - Giyu Tomioka His extraordinary swordsmanship was recognized even by the Upper Third Moon. His combat style is based on "Water Breathing." Years of training allowed him to develop superhuman strength, capable of generating powerful gusts of wind when wielding his sword. He can transform his Nichirin sword into crimson red by clashing his weapon with another Pillar's, weakening the demons' enhanced regeneration ability. His speed is outstanding, becoming imperceptible to both humans and demons. He awakened his Hunter's Mark, which manifests as streams of water on the left side of his face. This mark greatly enhances his physical abilities. (Image of Giyuu's Katana; bamboo blade with LED light ) Pillar of Love - Mitsuri Kanroji Although he appears fragile, he possesses a muscle density eight times greater than that of an average human, giving him exceptional strength and endurance. His superhuman flexibility allows him to perform sweeping movements, integrating this ability into his "Breath of Love" to effectively counter enemy techniques. Her Nichirin sword, known as the "Sword of Love," has a whip-like blade designed to harness her extraordinary abilities. Only she can wield it without risk of injury. Her speed, dexterity, and precision allow her to even slice through sonic attacks. He awakened his Hunter's Mark, shaped like inverted hearts and angel wings. (Image of Mitsuri's Katana, collectible ) Snake Pillar - Obanai Iguro Renowned for his superhuman speed and reflexes, he is also noted for his resilience, capable of fighting through severe injuries and inflicting significant damage on Muzan. His snake, Kaburamaru, complements his fighting style by anticipating enemy movements and transmitting them to him, compensating for his partial or even total blindness. He is a master swordsman, with a fluid style that allows him to attack from impossible angles and move deftly in tight spaces. He managed to dye his Nichirin sword crimson red with just the strength of his grip. His Hunter's Mark features patterns resembling three snakes, extending from his left arm to his chest. (Image of Obanai's Sword, replica ) Pillar of the Wind - Sanemi Shinazugawa Thanks to his mastery of "Complete Focus Breathing," he is able to manipulate his muscles and clot his blood to avoid fatal injuries, which, combined with his high pain tolerance, allows him to fight under extreme conditions. He possesses formidable speed and reflexes, as well as great physical strength. His Hunter's Mark is shaped like a green windmill with two dots on either side, located on his right cheek. In combat, he demonstrates great improvisational skills, utilizing a variety of weapons and techniques. On one occasion, he used oil to set his opponent on fire. He is also capable of turning his own and a teammate's weapons red when they clash. (Image of Sanemi's bamboo Katana ) Pillar of Sound - Tengen Uzui Known as the fastest Pilar in history, he can move so fast he appears to teleport. He possesses superhuman physical strength, considered the second greatest of his generation. He has a keen sense of hearing, allowing him to detect underground movements, locate demons, and analyze sounds reflected in the environment to calculate the location of enemies. His "Sound Breathing" allows him to deconstruct enemy attacks into musical scores, giving him a strategic advantage once completed. As a former shinobi, he has exceptional resistance to poison and is a master of stealth, even capable of decapitating someone without them noticing. (Image of Tengen's Swords ) Rock Pillar - Gyomei Himejima The physically strongest Pilar. Despite carrying a flail, he handles his weapon (an axe and a ball connected by a chain) with precision and speed. He is a master of kusarigamajutsu, an unconventional art among demon slayers. Due to his blindness, he developed superhuman hearing, capable of detecting even the sounds produced by demonic regeneration. He awakened his Hunter's Mark with crack patterns on his forearms and managed to dye his weapons crimson red by clashing them together. (Image of Gyomei's Ichibansho Figure, with his weapon ) Pillar of Mist - Muichiro Tokito He stands out for his incredible speed and extraordinary senses, capable of distinguishing the energy of demons and humans. Although his appearance is frail, his physical strength is above average. His will, fueled by rage at his brother's death, keeps him fighting even with mortal wounds. He awakened his Hunter's Mark, which resembles a red mist running through his body, and is able to activate it voluntarily in combat. His skill with the sword allowed him to achieve the rank of Pillar after only two months of training. He also managed to dye his Nichirin sword crimson with the strength of his grip. (Image of Muichiro's Katana, Bamboo replica ) Insect Pillar - Shinobu Kocho An expert in medicine and pharmacology, she creates both antidotes and poisons capable of weakening powerful demons. He makes up for his lack of physical strength with intelligence and strategy, using a customized needle-shaped katana to inject deadly poisons. (Image of Kocho's Katana, bamboo replica ) Pillar of Flame - Kyojuro Rengoku He possesses extraordinary physical strength, endurance and speed, causing tremors in his fights. He is a master swordsman, known for his mastery of the "Flame Breathing." He has perfected five different attack styles and can execute "Purgatory," a devastating attack that causes a massive area of impact. (Image of Rengoku's Katana, bamboo replica )

A brief description of the former pillars of Kimetsu no Yaiba, who served as teachers and inspirations to the new generations. The former Hashira of Lightning, Water, and Flower.
As we've discussed in other articles about the current Nine Pillars, we also believe it's important to mention those who once held this position. Although they ceased to be so for various reasons, whether through retirement or death, they have been no less important. These individuals, although no longer part of the Nine Pillars, achieved this prestigious title and were part of this elite in their time. With stories marked by tragedy, sacrifice, and overcoming, they left an indelible mark on the fight against demons, and we couldn't forget them. Next, we introduce you to the former Pilares. Kanae Kocho – Former Flower Pillar (Image of Kanae Figure ) Kanae stood out for her kind and affable nature, being one of the few hunters who managed to maintain her emotional stability despite the hardship of her work. He had an idealistic dream: a world where humans and demons could coexist in peace. Shinobu and Kanao's older sister, she was a protective figure for both of them, caring for and training them, transmitting her knowledge and values to them. She was an exceptionally talented and powerful swordswoman, who, unlike her sister Shinobu, could decapitate demons thanks to her strength and stature. As a Pillar of the Demon Slaying Corps, his mastery of the "Flower Breathing" technique allowed him to confront the Second Upper Moon, Douma. Though he succumbed in battle, he held on until dawn, once again proving his unwavering talent and determination. Her death was a tragedy that deeply affected her sisters, especially Shinobu, who took up her legacy and swore to avenge her. Sakonji Urokodaki – Former Water Pillar (Image of Sakonji Figure Vol.24 ) Known for his signature tengu mask, which he never removes, Sakonji was the creator of the "Water Breathing" style. During his years as a Pillar, he was a highly respected Hunter. After retiring, he settled on Mount Sagiri, where he began teaching his technique to future Hunters. However, after losing several of his apprentices in the Final Selection, he decided to stop training, at least until a former disciple, Giyu Tomioka, asked him to teach Tanjiro Kamado. He eventually agreed. Despite his stern appearance and strict coaching, Sakonji is compassionate and protective. He showed his human side by caring for Nezuko while Tanjiro was going through tough training, as well as during his participation in the Final Selection, thus offering his support. It could be said that Sakonji was the starting point in Tanjiro's journey as a hunter. His legacy lives on through the techniques he taught, which are fundamental to many of today's top hunters. Jigoro Kuwajima – Former Pillar of Lightning Jigoro was an extremely talented and powerful swordsman, a master of Lightning Breathing, and a former Pillar known for his wisdom, knowledge, and dedication. Although he had to retire due to his advanced age and injuries, he never lost his passion for training the next generation of hunters. He was a strong and experienced mentor, but he had a weak point: his paternal love for his disciples, a fact that did not prevent him from imposing strict training. Among his apprentices are Zenitsu Agatsuma and Kaigaku. The latter, however, betrayed the Demon Slaying Corps by joining the Twelve Demon Moons. Kaigaku's defection was a devastating blow to Jigoro, who, consumed by regret, decided to commit seppuku as a sign of atonement for failing to guide his student down the right path. Through Zenitsu, his legacy lives on. Zenitsu took his teachings to the limit and fought bravely in honor of Jigoro, proving that his teacher was a father figure who never stopped believing in his students' potential. The legacies, values, and teachings of these former Pillars live on in the hunters who succeeded them.

In this final part, you'll be able to meet Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Pillar; Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Pillar; and Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Pillar... As in previous articles, we've...
The time has come to introduce you to the three Pillars that were missing from the previous installments. If you haven't found your favorite Pillar yet, now's your chance. Before continuing, it's important to clarify that this grouping does not reflect any relationship between the Pillars, either due to the breaths they use or their personal characteristics, such as strength or power. This selection was made at my own discretion. In the second part , I grouped the Pillars that reminded me of the most basic elements (fire, with the Flame Pillar; water, with the Water Pillar; and air, with the Wind Pillar), while the first three evoked other types of "elements" (mist, sound, and rock). In this final part, the selected Pillars evoke beings (the Serpent Pillar and the Insect Pillar) and feelings (the Love Pillar). Snake Pillar - Obanai Iguro (Image of Obami Iguro's Q-Posket Figure Ver.B ) An exceptional fighter, despite his physical limitations, such as being blind in one eye, he possesses a unique style: the "Snake's Breath." Raised in an abusive environment and treated like a tool, Obanai developed a strict and distant personality, being highly critical of other hunters. He is a skilled and determined fighter, capable of taking on high-level demons and even Muzan himself. His commitment to the Demon Slaying Corps is reflected in his ability to sacrifice himself in combat and his unwavering will. Although he tends to be cold toward most people, he has a deep affection for Mitsuri and Kagaya, who are his greatest emotional motivation. During the final battles, he overcomes his own grudges and reveals his more human side by protecting his comrades. His Hunter's Mark has patterns resembling three snakes, extending from his left arm to his chest. Insect Pillar - Shinobu Kocho (Image of Shinobu Kocho Figure ) She is known for her wit and her unique fighting style, "Insect Breath," which combines speed and the use of poisons to compensate for her lack of physical strength. Behind her constant smile, Shinobu hides a deep anger toward demons, born from the losses she has suffered, including that of her older sister, Kanae. Although she often adopts a mocking and even sadistic tone, she shows compassion toward the protagonists by understanding their stories and suffering. Her dedication led her to collaborate in the development of a cure for Nezuko's demonic condition. In the battle against Douma, one of the Upper Moons, her sacrifice reflects her unwavering commitment to the Demon Slaying Corps. Her bravery and determination make her an unforgettable character. Pillar of Love - Mitsuri Kanroji (Image of Mitsuri Figure ) Mitsuri is noted for her superhuman strength, incredible flexibility, and unique swordsmanship. She is the creator of the "Breath of Love," an elegant and lethal fighting style that allows her to take on high-level demons. Despite her sweetness and shyness, Mitsuri demonstrates great determination and courage in combat. She puts aside her compassionate nature when necessary to protect those she cares about. Although she was rejected in the past for her strength and appearance, she found her place by becoming a demon slayer, where she was accepted by her peers. Her relationship with Obanai Iguro adds an emotional dimension to her character. They protect each other, and Mitsuri constantly strives to prove that she's not a burden, but a valuable asset to the team. His Hunter's Mark is in the shape of two inverted hearts, opposite each other, with angel wings on the sides. Who is your favorite Pilar? Have you found your favorite on this list? If not, don't worry: we still have another list of former Pillars that you'll surely find interesting.

It's time to learn a little more about the Water Pillar, the Flame Pillar, and the Wind Pillar, 3 of the 9 Pillars of Kimetsu no Yaiba, who hold the...
Just as we began in the previous installment, where we introduced you to the Pillar of Rock, the Pillar of Sound, and the Pillar of Mist , we still have six more to discover. In this second installment, it's the turn of the Pillar of Water, the Pillar of Flame, and the Pillar of Wind. We'll leave the Pillar of Serpent, the Pillar of Insect, and the Pillar of Love for the last installment. If you're ready, let's continue getting to know these Pillars and find out if your favorite is among them. Water Pillar - Giyu Tomioka (Image of Giyu's SH Figuarts Figure ) Giyu has mastered "Water Breathing," a technique he learned directly from Sakonji Urokodaki. He also employs "Total Concentration Breathing," which allows him to improve blood flow and oxygenate his muscles, thus reaching his full potential in combat. His fluid style and analytical mind allow him to defeat even the Lower Moons with ease. With a reserved and serious personality, but with a compassionate undertone, Giyu has a strong sense of justice. This is evident in his decision to protect Nezuko, even if it went against the Demon Slayer code, demonstrating his humanity and ability to question the rules when necessary. He was the first Pillar to appear in the story and the one responsible for placing Nezuko's signature bamboo muzzle. With a fluid combat style and great tactical intelligence, Giyu is able to successfully confront powerful demons. However, he carries the guilt of having outlived his friend Sabito. It is thanks to Tanjiro that he finds meaning in his life and decides to live in honor of those who sacrificed theirs. His Hunter's Mark appears on the left side of his face and is shaped like streams of water. Pillar of Flame - Kyojuro Rengoku ( Image of a Kyojuro Figure ) A skilled, courageous, charismatic, and honorable warrior, Kyojuro is known for his mastery of the "Breath of Flame" and his unwavering dedication to protecting the innocent. He inherited the title of Pillar from his father and the values of his mother, who instilled in him the importance of protecting the weak. He possesses extraordinary technique and swordsmanship, the result of rigorous practice and strict discipline. In battle, he demonstrated bravery, physical strength, and strategic skills. His tragic death left an indelible mark on history, cementing him as one of the most beloved characters in the series. Pillar of the Wind - Sanemi Shinazugawa (Image of Sanemi Figure, Hashira Meeting Pm Perchering ) Sanemi is known for his hatred of demons, a result of the losses he suffered in his childhood. He is noted for his great strength, speed, and mastery of "Wind Breath," a combat style based on swift and precise attacks. His extremely rare blood is intoxicating to demons, making him an effective decoy in combat. With an abrasive and stubborn nature, marked by his tragic past, he is willing to sacrifice himself to protect both innocents and his comrades. Although his attitude is hostile, especially toward the protagonists, Sanemi demonstrates a deep love for his younger brother, Genya, and respect for Kagaya. His determination and resilience shine especially brightly in his confrontation with Kokushibo and in the final battle, where he plays a crucial role. Throughout the story, he shows remarkable development, revealing his kinder side and even apologizing to Nezuko. His Hunter's Mark appears on his right cheek in the shape of a green origami windmill, accompanied by two dots on the sides.

We present you a little about Gyomei Himejima, Tengen Uzui and Muichiro Tokito, 3 of the 9 Polar (9 Hashira) of Kimetsu no Yaiba, that is, 3 of those hunters...
As we mentioned in a previous post about the world of Kimetsu no Yaiba , within the Demon Slayer organization, there's a special rank known as the Hashira, or Pillar. This elite group is made up of the Demon Slayer Corps' most powerful swordsmen, not only due to their individual skills, physical strength, speed, intelligence, or other abilities, but also a combination of all of them. They possess the ability to confront even the Twelve Demon Moons. The Pillars are led by Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and each has perfected a "breathing" style or even created their own derived from other styles. Each Pillar is assigned a region to protect, where they gather information about demons and train. Additionally, they seek to train a Tsuguko, or successor, to take their place when they die or retire. These can be either accepted or recruited by a Pillar, who usually chooses a hunter with a similar breathing style, although they may also select someone with a completely different style. Becoming a Pillar requires arduous training that, under normal conditions, can take up to five years, although the most talented can achieve it in less time. Furthermore, they must defeat one of the Twelve Demon Moons or have slain 50 demons. Below, we introduce you to three of the nine Hashira. Will any of them be your favorite? Rock Pillar - Gyomei Himejima (Image of Gyomei Q-Posket Figure Ver. A ) He is the strongest pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps, known for his imposing presence and mastery of the "Rock Breath." He compensates for his blindness from birth with extraordinary hearing and sense of smell, allowing him to accurately perceive even the most subtle demonic presence. Kind and deeply religious in character, he offers guidance and wisdom to the younger generation. Despite his tragic history, his determination and big heart make him a role model for his peers. During the final battles, he demonstrates exceptional physical and mental prowess. Even without activating the Hunter's Mark, he is able to take on the most powerful foes, earning the respect of both allies and adversaries. His Demon Slayer Mark appears on his forearms in a crack-like pattern. Pillar of Sound - Tengen Uzui (Image of Tengen Uzui's Pop Figure ) He is known for his flamboyant personality and unique fighting style based on the "Breathing of Sound." He combines his experience as a former shinobi with tremendous speed and strength to confront demons with lethal effectiveness. In battle, he has demonstrated both bravery and strategic skills. Despite his eccentricity and tendency to attract attention, Tengen has a deep commitment to the safety of his loved ones, especially his three wives: Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru. He rejects the shinobi ideology of prioritizing missions over human life, valuing the well-being of his comrades above all else. Pillar of Mist - Muichiro Tokito (Image of a figure by Muichiro Tokito ) He is a true prodigy among demon hunters, renowned for his mastery of the "Mist Breath." At a very young age, he managed to become a Pillar thanks to his exceptional swordsmanship and techniques such as the "Blinding Mist." Orphaned as a child, he lost his twin brother at the hands of a demon, an event that marked his distant nature. After this event, he lost his memories, adopting a logical and emotionally cold demeanor. However, his relationship with Tanjiro helped him regain his humanity, becoming more expressive and empathetic. Muichiro's personal development and the complexity of his story make him a beloved and respected character. His Demon Slayer Mark runs across his body in a red design reminiscent of mist.

What would have happened if instead of Giyu, another Pillar had found Tanjiro and Nezuko initially? I'm sure you too believe that history could have been very different. Let's imagine...
In Kimetsu no Yaiba , the fates of Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado take a crucial turn thanks to Giyu Tomioka, the Water Pillar, who decided to protect them despite the strict rules of the Demon Slayer Corps. But have you ever wondered what would have happened if another Pillar had been in their place? Would their story have been just as hopeful or would it have ended in tragedy? Below, we explore some alternative scenarios that could have changed everything. What would have become of them if they had been found by…? Shinobu Kocho, Insect Pillar Shinobu, with her sweet voice and constant smile, hides a deep resentment toward demons. Although her approach is pragmatic and scientific, her hatred could have been a major obstacle for Tanjiro and Nezuko. Initially, Shinobu would likely have been curious about Nezuko as a unique phenomenon: a demon who doesn't attack humans. However, that curiosity might have led her to seek to study her rather than protect her. Her more calculating and less emotional approach could have created tension with Tanjiro. In a positive scenario, Shinobu could have used her ingenuity to prove Nezuko's innocence to the rest of the Corps, as well as her scientific value. But in a worst-case scenario, she could have attempted to poison her "for the greater good," as part of her experiments. From this perspective, the relationship between Tanjiro and Shinobu would have been much more conflicted, and Nezuko's fate could have been in danger from the beginning. Kyojuro Rengoku, Pillar of Flame With his energy and passionate nature, Rengoku could have been a father figure to Tanjiro and Nezuko from the start. His motto of protecting the innocent and his strong sense of duty make him a Pillar who would likely have defended the Kamado siblings. Rengoku might have seen Tanjiro and Nezuko as a case worthy of exception. His willingness to protect them would have been evident, though he might have faced difficulties convincing the Corps' superiors. It is also likely that Rengoku took on the role of mentor, helping Tanjiro improve his swordsmanship and offering emotional support. In this way, the plot could have taken a direction more focused on Rengoku's ideals of justice and compassion, with a faster development of Tanjiro as a hunter. Mitsuri Kanroji, Pillar of Love With her compassionate heart and ability to empathize, Mitsuri would have been a natural ally for Tanjiro and Nezuko. She would likely have felt tenderness toward Nezuko and admiration for Tanjiro's determination to protect her. Her instinct would have been to protect them from the beginning. And while she would have been a strong defender, her less assertive nature might have hampered her ability to influence the decisions of her superiors. With Mitsuri, the story could have focused more on the importance of empathy and emotions, albeit with greater challenges in gaining the Corps' support. Muichiro Tokito, Pillar of Mist Muichiro's initial indifference to others could have made this encounter very unpredictable. At his most distant, Muichiro would likely have ignored Tanjiro and Nezuko or considered them irrelevant. So perhaps the initial approach could have been initiated by them. As Muichiro recalled his own tragic past, he might have begun to empathize with Tanjiro's struggle to protect his only family. His more meaningful support might have come later, with a greater focus on the deep emotional impact, reinforcing the themes of memory and redemption. Sanemi Shinazugawa, Pillar of the Wind Sanemi, known for his deep hatred of demons, would have represented one of the greatest challenges for Tanjiro and Nezuko. His aggressiveness and distrust could have turned the encounter into a deadly showdown. He would likely have tried to kill Nezuko on the spot, without giving any room for explanations, which would have forced Tanjiro to confront him to protect his sister. Had Nezuko managed to demonstrate her self-control, Sanemi might have reconsidered his position, though this would have taken time and a great deal of evidence. Perhaps that self-control would have manifested itself in protecting Tanjiro, which would have sown doubt in Sanemi. In this case, her relationship with Tanjiro would have been tense and violent, with a darker focus and filled with internal conflicts within the Corps. Additionally, it could have led to a greater focus on Nezuko and her own development, proving her innocence and demonstrating her worth beyond her status as a demon. There are hundreds of possible situations and “universes” Each Pillar has a unique personality that would have given a different spin to Tanjiro and Nezuko's story. From Shinobu's pragmatic sweetness to Rengoku's passionate justice to Sanemi's aggressiveness, these alternatives highlight the richness of Kimetsu no Yaiba 's world. Do you agree with these interpretations? The choice of Pillars was a bit personal and a bit random, so do you think another Pillar would have changed the story in a more interesting way? In my case, I think the most interesting change to see would be with the Wind Pillar, Sanemi Shinazugawa, which is why I've presented this one to the end. And for you? I'd love to hear your opinions and theories! (If you are interested in discovering various merchandise from Kimetsu and other anime, you can search here )

Although comparisons are odious, the first season had 26 episodes, the second 18 and the third 11, and this one will end on June 30. Buy this Tanjiro Kamado Katana in the version you want! Even though the season will adapt the Pillar Training arc , which in the manga consists of only 9 chapters, and the wait since the last season hasn't been that long (it ended in Summer 2023), it's a shame that we're left off just before the Infinite Dimensional Fortress. Also, the first episode of this season was already included in the last movie, 'Kimetsu No Yaiba - Heading to Pillar Training', which means that if you saw the movie, you might only find 6 or 7 of the 8 episodes of the season interesting. Buy this Zenitsu katana from Kimetsu No Yaiba in the version you want! If you're eager to find out what's in store for Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the rest of the characters, the 'Kimetsu no Yaiba' manga has now concluded after 205 chapters spread across 23 volumes , offering the story's conclusion. The fourth season of the anime will cover the events between volumes 15 and 16 of the manga, suggesting that there's material for at least one or two more seasons.
