Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts leads the production, with Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg serving as executive producers. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, with the same creative vision as the original series.
The cast is led by Harriet Slater (Ellen MacKenzie), Jamie Roy (Brian Fraser), Hermione Corfield (Julia Moriston) and Jeremy Irvine (Henry Beauchamp), who play the parents of the Outlander protagonists: Jamie and Claire, respectively.

A prequel , two love stories , two intertwined eras
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is presented as a standalone prequel that expands the universe of the saga without requiring prior knowledge.
The story begins with two parallel timelines, focusing on two parallel love stories connected by time.
On the one hand, Jamie Fraser's parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, star in a love story set in the Scottish Highlands in 1715... They live their own drama in the midst of Jacobite fervor.
On the other hand, Claire Beauchamp's parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, live in England devastated by World War I and try to maintain their relationship amidst the chaos.
However, a temporary accident causes Julia to wake up disoriented in 1715, altering the course of events.
As she tries to adapt to her new surroundings, she begins to directly influence Ellen and Brian's story, unaware that her presence will alter her own daughter's future.
The symbolism of blood and violence
The title Blood of My Blood evokes not only the deep family bond between generations, but also the sacrifice and violence that permeates history.
In a world where war and conflict define destinies, weapons and fighting are an inseparable part of the story.

Armament of two eras
The Outlander series is noted for its historical accuracy, and one of its most notable aspects was the depiction of the weaponry typical of each era, so the same is expected for this prequel to the series.
Since it is partly set in the 18th century, the most common firearms are muskets and pistols, and swords, which continue to be used both on the battlefield and for self-defense; therefore, we can expect this season to include:
- Muskets: Smooth-bore muzzle-loading, they were slow-reloading weapons (about 30 seconds per shot), inaccurate, but very powerful. They were commonly used with bayonets and fired spherical lead bullets.
- Rifles: With rifled barrels, they offered greater accuracy and range than muskets. They used a smaller caliber and were less common in combination with bayonets.
- Flintlock pistols: These used a flintlock mechanism and were loaded through the muzzle. They had short range and reloaded slowly. They came in various models, including dueling pistols, pirate pistols, and swivel-barreled pistols, often decorated.
- Swords and Bladed Weapons: Longswords were common, as were curved sabers, which were preferred by officers. Knives and daggers were also used for both combat and everyday tasks.
For the period of the During World War I, weapons evolved dramatically toward more sophisticated and destructive firearms. Among the most notable weapons that could appear in the series are:
- Rifles: Such as the Lee-Enfield SMLE Mk III, with an effective range of 550 meters and a capacity of 15 rounds per minute.
- Bayonets: A type of knife was attached to rifles, and were also used as a hand-to-hand combat tool.
- Shotguns: Mainly used in close-range combat, such as trench combat.
- Grenades: Thrown by hand or by catapult, they were lethal in closed spaces or enemy defenses.
- Semi-automatic pistols: Used by officers and soldiers in hand-to-hand combat, they offered speed and ease of use.
- Light artillery: Included 18-pound field guns and mortars adapted to the conditions of trench combat.
