Surely many of you have taken a look at the new series "Shogun" , set in feudal Japan in the 17th century and which tells the story of the novel character Yoshii Toranaga . What you may not know is that despite being a fictional story, this character is inspired by someone real and historical. Tokugawa Ieyasu , one of the 3 unifiers of Japan along with the previous ones Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Today we tell you about Ieyasu! Tokugawa Ieyasu Tokugawa Ieyasu was one of the most important shoguns of Japan and a crucial figure in the unification of the country during the Sengoku period, also known as the Warring States Era. Look at this katana from Kimetsu no Yaiba Born Matsudaira Takechiyo in 1543 in Mikawa Province, Ieyasu belonged to the Matsudaira family, which was a branch of the Minamoto clan . At a young age, he was sent as a hostage to the Imagawa clan to ensure his family's loyalty. There he received education and military training, which provided him with skills and knowledge that would be instrumental in his future career. As he grew older, Ieyasu became involved in the political and military struggles of the time. He managed to consolidate his power in Mikawa Province and establish strategic alliances with other powerful daimyos, such as Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. These alliances allowed him to expand his influence and territory, participating in various battles and military campaigns. Ieyasu emerged as the victor of this battle, consolidating his position as the most powerful daimyo in Japan. In 1603, the emperor granted Ieyasu the title of shogun , marking the beginning of the Tokugawa shogunate, which would last for over 250 years until 1868. March 25: International Tolkien Reading Day. Di...
Welcome to a new blog from Espadas Y Más. Today is March 25th and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to talk to you about Tolkien. Don't miss out on our Discounts for celebrating this day! March 25th. International Tolkien Reading Day March 25 is International Tolkien Reading Day. This date was chosen because it marks the destruction of the Ring and the end of the Third Age in “The Lord of the Rings,” a very important work by Tolkien. Since its first celebration in 2003 by the Tolkien Society in England, International Reading Tolkien Day has been celebrated annually. Tolkien societies around the world usually mark the event on the weekend closest to 25 March. Elendil Sword Lowered! On this day, Tolkien fans gather to read excerpts from his books and celebrate his literary legacy. In Spain, for example, the Sociedad Tolkien Española usually organises various activities in different cities. It is a great opportunity to enjoy the rich and detailed mythology that Tolkien created in his works, and to appreciate the depth and beauty of his writing. Dart Sword with Display on Sale! Tolkien's work is not just another fantasy literary creation. In The Lord of the Rings (without detracting from the rest of his works) we can observe the presence of values typical of the wisdom tradition such as honour, the search for the prevalence of good and the appreciation of virtue. On the other hand, we find some reference to the Hero's Journey, so present in the literary tradition and even in the collective subconscious of the European tradition. The whole story of Frodo is a representation of the Hero's Journey, from beginning to end, and the companions who accompany him, as well as the feats he must undertake to overcome the situations he faces, complete this area. Numenor Sword Lowered! One could also mention the presence of Carl Jung's archetypes in Tolkien's work. (The hero, the leader, the magician, the wise man, the explorer, the protector, etc.) Galadriel Sword Discounted! The Lord of the Rings can, and should, be a close reference for readers of this century, not only for the high quality of its narrative and the complete world it evokes, but for everything it conveys and the values it reflects. From Espadas Y Más we want to wish you a Happy Tolkien Day 2024!

FATHER'S DAY WHEN IS IT? SPAIN, HOLIDAY
Welcome to a new blog from Espadas Y Más. Today we will remind you when Father's Day is, and we recommend that you pay close attention to the website so as not to miss any discounts or surprises ;) Don't miss our FATHER'S DAY COLLECTION! FATHER'S DAY IS MARCH 19 Traditionally, Father's Day used to be a national holiday , but nowadays, communities have the power to decide whether to celebrate it as a public holiday or not . This year, March 19 will only be a public holiday in the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia. Coinciding with the cremà of the Fallas, Saint Joseph's Day, March 19, falls on a Tuesday this 2024. For the rest of Spain, it will be a normal working day, although children will surely bring a gift to their parents at school. You're going to love this Katana! Generally, when Father's Day falls on a Monday or Friday, some communities choose to declare it a holiday to create a short weekend, but this year will not be the case. When the date falls in the middle of the week, very few regions consider it a holiday, except those that celebrate other important festivities, such as the Valencian Community, immersed in the Fallas and whose patron saint is Saint Joseph. As for the national holidays in Spain during the year 2024, there are eight: New Year (January 1), Good Friday (March 29), Labor Day (May 1), Assumption of the Virgin (August 15), National Holiday (October 12), All Saints' Day (November 1), Spanish Constitution Day (December 6) and Christmas (December 25). In addition, each autonomous community has four regional holidays and two local holidays. Do you like Harry Potter? This gift is sure to be a hit! In the past, March 19 used to be a religious holiday in Spain, just like Holy Thursday and Good Friday, Corpus Christi, Saint Peter's Day, the Ascension Day and Saint James the Apostle. However, with the arrival of democracy, Saint Joseph's Day was removed from the national calendar along with other religious holidays. Although the autonomous communities that wished to do so were allowed to keep it, this decision has generated complaints from the Falleros, who consider that it negatively affects tourism in the region.

Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball, has pas...
Welcome to a new blog from Espadas Y Más. Today we are going to tell you some news that is not a pleasant experience for anyone. Akira Toriyama has passed away. May he rest in peace. Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball, has passed away The creative universe of 'Dragon Ball' loses its visionary genius with the passing of Akira Toriyama (may he rest in peace), the celebrated mangaka whose legacy has left an indelible mark on the history of Japanese art thanks to Dragon Ball . At the age of 68, Toriyama left us due to a devastating acute subdural hematoma, a tragic outcome that has shocked his fans and the world of manga and anime in its entirety. A statement was issued on social media lamenting the loss of someone with incomparable talent. At the time of his passing, Toriyama still had projects and dreams to carry out, reflecting his tireless creative spirit and his great capacity for work, as well as the passion and love he had for his work. The funeral, held privately with only his loved ones present, was held before the artist's death was made public. In a gesture of respect for Toriyama's wishes, expressed during his lifetime, the family has requested privacy and declined any public displays of condolence or tribute. Media and fans are asked to refrain from seeking interviews, which makes sense given that he is a well-known person, and it is necessary to respect the grief of loved ones. The company responsible for managing his works has expressed its deep gratitude to all those who have contributed to Akira Toriyama's creative development over more than four decades. With words full of nostalgia and admiration, the company hopes that the unique universe created by Toriyama will continue to be appreciated and loved for generations to come. Before creating the legendary Dragon Ball , which sold an impressive 360 million copies worldwide, Toriyama had already left an indelible mark on the world of manga with his seminal work, Dr. Slump. Through this delirious comedy, published between 1980 and 1984, the artist emerged from anonymity to become an indisputable reference in the genre, selling more than 35 million copies in Japan alone and giving rise to a successful anime series that would catapult him to international fame. At Espadas Y Más , although we are saddened by what happened, we also understand that death is part of the journey, and what better way to remember him than by appreciating his work, his dedication and all the good times he has given to the world.
