March 25th. International Tolkien Reading Day March 25 is International Tolkien Reading Day. This date was chosen because it marks the destruction of the Ring and the end of the Third Age in “The Lord of the Rings,” a very important work by Tolkien. Since its first celebration in 2003 by the Tolkien Society in England, International Reading Tolkien Day has been celebrated annually. Tolkien societies around the world usually mark the event on the weekend closest to 25 March. Elendil Sword Lowered! On this day, Tolkien fans gather to read excerpts from his books and celebrate his literary legacy. In Spain, for example, the Sociedad Tolkien Española usually organises various activities in different cities. It is a great opportunity to enjoy the rich and detailed mythology that Tolkien created in his works, and to appreciate the depth and beauty of his writing. Dart Sword with Display on Sale! Tolkien's work is not just another fantasy literary creation. In The Lord of the Rings (without detracting from the rest of his works) we can observe the presence of values typical of the wisdom tradition such as honour, the search for the prevalence of good and the appreciation of virtue. On the other hand, we find some reference to the Hero's Journey, so present in the literary tradition and even in the collective subconscious of the European tradition. The whole story of Frodo is a representation of the Hero's Journey, from beginning to end, and the companions who accompany him, as well as the feats he must undertake to overcome the situations he faces, complete this area. Numenor Sword Lowered! One could also mention the presence of Carl Jung's archetypes in Tolkien's work. (The hero, the leader, the magician, the wise man, the explorer, the protector, etc.) Galadriel Sword Discounted! The Lord of the Rings can, and should, be a close reference for readers of this century, not only for the high quality of its narrative and the complete world it evokes, but for everything it conveys and the values it reflects. FATHER'S DAY WHEN IS IT? SPAIN, HOLIDAY

Welcome to a new blog from Espadas Y Más. Today we will remind you when Father's Day is, and we recommend that you pay close attention to the website so as not to miss any discounts or surprises ;) Don't miss our FATHER'S DAY COLLECTION! FATHER'S DAY IS MARCH 19 Traditionally, Father's Day used to be a national holiday , but nowadays, communities have the power to decide whether to celebrate it as a public holiday or not . This year, March 19 will only be a public holiday in the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia. Coinciding with the cremà of the Fallas, Saint Joseph's Day, March 19, falls on a Tuesday this 2024. For the rest of Spain, it will be a normal working day, although children will surely bring a gift to their parents at school. You're going to love this Katana! Generally, when Father's Day falls on a Monday or Friday, some communities choose to declare it a holiday to create a short weekend, but this year will not be the case. When the date falls in the middle of the week, very few regions consider it a holiday, except those that celebrate other important festivities, such as the Valencian Community, immersed in the Fallas and whose patron saint is Saint Joseph. As for the national holidays in Spain during the year 2024, there are eight: New Year (January 1), Good Friday (March 29), Labor Day (May 1), Assumption of the Virgin (August 15), National Holiday (October 12), All Saints' Day (November 1), Spanish Constitution Day (December 6) and Christmas (December 25). In addition, each autonomous community has four regional holidays and two local holidays. Do you like Harry Potter? This gift is sure to be a hit! In the past, March 19 used to be a religious holiday in Spain, just like Holy Thursday and Good Friday, Corpus Christi, Saint Peter's Day, the Ascension Day and Saint James the Apostle. However, with the arrival of democracy, Saint Joseph's Day was removed from the national calendar along with other religious holidays. Although the autonomous communities that wished to do so were allowed to keep it, this decision has generated complaints from the Falleros, who consider that it negatively affects tourism in the region.

Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball, has pas...

Welcome to a new blog from Espadas Y Más. Today we are going to tell you some news that is not a pleasant experience for anyone. Akira Toriyama has passed away. May he rest in peace. Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball, has passed away The creative universe of 'Dragon Ball' loses its visionary genius with the passing of Akira Toriyama (may he rest in peace), the celebrated mangaka whose legacy has left an indelible mark on the history of Japanese art thanks to Dragon Ball . At the age of 68, Toriyama left us due to a devastating acute subdural hematoma, a tragic outcome that has shocked his fans and the world of manga and anime in its entirety. A statement was issued on social media lamenting the loss of someone with incomparable talent. At the time of his passing, Toriyama still had projects and dreams to carry out, reflecting his tireless creative spirit and his great capacity for work, as well as the passion and love he had for his work. The funeral, held privately with only his loved ones present, was held before the artist's death was made public. In a gesture of respect for Toriyama's wishes, expressed during his lifetime, the family has requested privacy and declined any public displays of condolence or tribute. Media and fans are asked to refrain from seeking interviews, which makes sense given that he is a well-known person, and it is necessary to respect the grief of loved ones. The company responsible for managing his works has expressed its deep gratitude to all those who have contributed to Akira Toriyama's creative development over more than four decades. With words full of nostalgia and admiration, the company hopes that the unique universe created by Toriyama will continue to be appreciated and loved for generations to come. Before creating the legendary Dragon Ball , which sold an impressive 360 million copies worldwide, Toriyama had already left an indelible mark on the world of manga with his seminal work, Dr. Slump. Through this delirious comedy, published between 1980 and 1984, the artist emerged from anonymity to become an indisputable reference in the genre, selling more than 35 million copies in Japan alone and giving rise to a successful anime series that would catapult him to international fame. At Espadas Y Más , although we are saddened by what happened, we also understand that death is part of the journey, and what better way to remember him than by appreciating his work, his dedication and all the good times he has given to the world.

Welcome to a new article from Espadas Y Más. In this case, and continuing with Women's Day, 8M, we continue talking about warrior women. Today, Agustina de Aragón. Check out our Women's Day collection! AUGUSTINE OF ARAGON Agustina de Aragón was first born in Reus, a picturesque town in Tarragona, Spain, on March 4, 1786, and it was during the heated days of the War of Independence that her name resonated with courage and determination. Check out our Red Queen sword! At just twenty-two years old, Agustina was swept away by the torrents of history towards Zaragoza, a city marked by the fervour of resistance against the Napoleonic invasion. On 15 June 1808, when the drums of war were beating in the cobbled streets of the Aragonese capital, the French armies besieged the gates of Carmen and Portillo with the desire to conquer. However, the walls of Zaragoza did not yield to the foreign attack. It was in those days of fire and lead that Agustina stood as a symbol of courage and patriotism. Wonder Woman Godslayer Sword On July 2, in the midst of the din of battle, Agustina clung to the cannon of a battery, her heart burning with the spirit of freedom . With a firm hand and a resolute gaze, she fired at the French invaders, defying their relentless advance. Together with other brave men, Agustina became the bastion that prevented the enemy from entering the besieged city. The siege lasted until the fateful 15th of August, when the French, defeated and humiliated, raised their tents and abandoned the walls of Zaragoza. Athena Wonder Woman Sword The feat of Agustina de Aragón was not limited to that historic confrontation. Her indomitable spirit led her to participate in countless battles, from the siege of the Jerusalem convent in Zaragoza to the sieges of Teruel and Tortosa. Even when she was taken prisoner, her determination did not waver. Agustina escaped from the clutches of her captors, defying the chains of oppression. Her sacrifice and courage did not go unnoticed. Ferdinand VII , in recognition of her bravery, granted her a pension of 100 reales, a symbol of gratitude towards a woman whose courage defied the limits imposed by her gender. Amazing Katana The bonds of love and war wove Agustina's destiny. She first married a soldier, whose uncertain fate led her to believe him dead. Then, her heart found refuge in the arms of Captain Luis de Talarbe, only to say goodbye to him in the cruel dance of armed conflict. Finally, a new love, Juan Eugenio Cobo de Belchite, accompanied her days of struggle and sacrifice. Agustina's last breath resonated in the confines of Ceuta on May 20, 1857. However, her legacy transcended the boundaries of time and memory. In a gesture of homage, the City Council of Zaragoza decided to transfer her mortal remains, a measure that materialized in 1870. Since then, the indomitable spirit of Agustina de Aragón rests in the church of Nuestra Señora del Portillo, a beacon of inspiration for future generations. Emma's Katana Agustina de Aragón definitely embodies the heroism and epic nature of Spain, which transcends eras and perspectives, and at EspadasYMás we love to tell you about these types of historical events.

Joan of Arc. Women Warriors of History. Women's...

Welcome to a new article from Espadas y Más. In this case, we are going to talk about Joan of Arc, her epic life and history. In the annals of history, few figures shine as brightly as Joan of Arc, a young woman who defied the conventions of her time and changed the course of the Hundred Years' War between France and England . Amidst the chaos and despair, Joan emerged as a beacon of hope , leading French troops to victory and defying the social and religious expectations of her day. Her life and legacy are an enduring testament to the courage, faith, and determination of a woman who defied the odds to change the destiny of a nation and the course of European and world history. Don't miss out on our amazing swords! The story Against the vast backdrop of the Hundred Years' War, where the nations of France and England clashed in a whirlwind of conflict and ambition, a figure emerges who captures the imagination and the heart of history: Joan of Arc , a young woman of humble origins destined to defy the forces of oppression and despair. At the tender age of 17, at a time when darkness threatened to engulf her homeland, Joan rose with unwavering faith in her divine mission. Convinced that she had been chosen by the designs of the Almighty, she undertook an epic journey of more than 2,000 kilometers to the court of Charles VII , the monarch challenged by adversity, with the bold intention of liberating France from the relentless clutches of English occupation. Check out our Women's Day collection! Joan's fate is intertwined with the fate of Orléans, a besieged city groaning under the yoke of war. With royal permission, this maiden of indomitable heart and fiery determination led an army destined to break the chains of oppression. The liberation of Orléans became a milestone that would resonate throughout the annals of history, a beacon of hope amidst the darkness that enveloped the nation. This sword is awesome! Yet, as in many heroic tales, tragedy lurked in the shadows. A year after her victory, Joan fell into an ambush hatched by the shadows of treachery. Captured by the hands of the enemy, she was handed over as war treasure to the English. The young warrior, with her unwavering faith as her only weapon, faced a brutal trial for heresy, a trial that would be her condemnation and her legacy. In the fateful year of 1431, at just 19 years old, Joan of Arc ascended to heaven in the glow of the pyre, her spirit engulfed in the flames of injustice and religious fervour. Her sacrifice, her pain and her fervent conviction made her an immortal figure, a national heroine whose light never fades in the collective memory of France and Europe. What a crazy offer! Canonized as a saint more than 500 years later, venerated as the patron saint of France, an eternal flame that guides future generations towards the light of freedom and hope. Look at this nice dagger Joan's bravery on the battlefield and her refusal to conform to the traditional roles of her time remind us that women have always played a vital role in shaping history, challenging norms and blazing new trails for future generations. Her example inspires us to speak out, lead with determination and continue to fight for equality and justice. At Espadas y Más we are delighted to talk to you about this incredible woman. See you later! Giving this katana as a gift is sure to be a success!
