The doublet finds its origins in the 14th-century Franconian doublet, evolving as an outer garment from the 15th century onwards in Spanish fashion. This piece reached to the waist or hips and was characterized by its luxurious fit and high-quality materials. Our Victor doublet includes an attached skirt with an opening and hidden embroidered eyelets at the front that allow for attaching trousers directly, just as was done historically. Velvet, which had been predominantly woven in Italy since the 14th century, made these garments exclusive items reserved for the nobility and the wealthy bourgeoisie.
