The Cold Steel® Man at Arms (MAA) Italian Longsword with Scabbard is the modern version of the weapon used by medieval soldiers called men at arms. These fighters were known for their bravery, heroism, and skill in using weapons of all kinds. These men fought and trained alongside knights, and although they were not nobles, they were considered brothers in arms by the knights themselves. Cold Steel® has decided to honor these brave warriors with the Man at Arms weapon collection.

The MAA collection is a range of combatable weapons that resemble Cold Steel® premium products, but are offered at a much more affordable price. The blades in the MAA collection are characterized by their gunmetal look, which harmonizes perfectly with the black handles. These blades are fully sharpened and blued but lack the silver polished steel elements found on the premium versions. However, in quality and performance, the MAA blades are just as good as the others.

The era of the longsword spanned nearly three centuries, from 1350 to 1650, and the Italian longsword was considered one of the finest designs of its kind. The Italian longsword had a distinctive cross-piece, long double-edged blade, and was equally suited to combating both lightly and heavily armoured opponents. The particularly long blade allowed for the reach and leverage needed for powerful chopping and slashing, while the long parry bar and heavy pommel could also be used to control the opponent's weapon. In combat against heavy plate armour, strikes with the blade were largely ineffective.

Cold Steel® has designed this Italian longsword using the original design model. Although the blade and center of gravity are more designed for striking attacks, the cutting edges are also surprisingly effective. The sword comes with a leather sheath with blued steel fittings.

In short, the MAA - Italian Longsword is a beautiful weapon that pays homage to the era of men-at-arms. The blade is made of 1055er carbon steel, blued, and is about 90.2 cm long, with a thickness of about 6.35 mm. The total length of the sword is about 119.4 cm and the length of the handle is about 29.2 cm. In addition, the leather sheath with blued steel fittings completes the traditional look of the weapon.

The Customer has the right to withdraw from the order within 14 calendar days of receipt.
