This short coat (also known as

) is inspired by authentic medieval outerwear. Capes of this style were commonly worn from the 16th century onwards.

12th to 15th centuries

by both men and women, offering warmth, modesty and protection from wind and rain.

Unlike full-length cloaks, the short cloak was especially practical for everyday wear, travel, or combat, as it allowed complete freedom of movement while protecting the shoulders and chest. The lace-up closure at the neck reflects the proper closure methods of the period, often seen in illuminations and on surviving medieval garments.

Care instructions

Washing

: Dry cleaning is recommended for longer life. If hand washing, use cold water and a mild wool detergent. Avoid vigorous rubbing.

Drying

Shape while damp and spread on a clean towel. Avoid wringing or twisting. Do not tumble dry.

Ironing

: Use a steam iron on a low to medium wool setting, ideally with a pressing cloth to protect the fibers.

Storage

Store folded or hung in a breathable garment bag. Keep away from direct sunlight and humid environments to prevent moth damage.

Stain cleaning

: Gently wipe small stains with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not rub, as the wool fibers may become felt.

You must send the item(s) to us using your own means. Freight collect shipments will not be accepted.

The Customer has the right to withdraw from the order within 14 calendar days of receipt.
