However, shortly after the catastrophe, vampires appear and take control of the Earth and enslave the few remaining humans, using children as livestock for their sustenance.

The plot follows Yuichiro Hyakuya, a young boy who, after losing his family to vampires, swears revenge and joins the "Moon Demon Troupe," a military organization that seeks to overthrow vampires and free humanity. Along with other surviving orphans, Yuichiro trains to become an efficient soldier and face the threats of vampires and monsters.
