"The Medieval Style" (Styles and Periods):

    • Early Middle Ages (15th century): Simple wool or linen tunics predominated, for both men and women. Accessories such as leather belts and metal brooches adorned the garments.

    • Romanesque (11th-12th centuries): The first class differences in clothing appear. The nobility wears more elaborate tunics, with embroidery and more luxurious fabrics. Capes and hoods become popular.

  • Renaissance (15th-16th centuries): Classical influence on fashion. Loose, flowing tunics, adorned with flounces and lace, return. Men adopt tight-fitting leggings and short capes.
