Alien: Planet Earth – Release date, synopsis, a...

Alien: Earth Premiere Alien: Earth is the first live-action series based on the iconic Alien franchise. After six years in development, the series marks a new milestone for the saga created by Ridley Scott in 1979. Set in the year 2120, this production expands the cinematic universe of Alien, bringing the xenomorph threat to our own planet and offering a concept that combines horror, science fiction, and action. Premiere, duration, and distribution Alien: Earth arrives on Disney+ Spain on August 13, 2025, with a double-episode premiere, followed by weekly episodes until a full eight-episode season is completed. Each episode focuses on a narrative development that combines tension, horror, and a futuristic setting. The series can be watched exclusively on Disney+, consolidating its presence on streaming platforms.   Synopsis and narrative context The story begins when a mysterious spaceship crashes on Earth, which is currently governed by five powerful corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. In this corporate era, humans, cyborgs (mixtures of biological and artificial parts), and synthetics (robots with artificial intelligence) coexist. The focus is on Wendy, the first hybrid prototype, an android with human consciousness developed by Prodigy Corporation in the race for immortality. After the crash of the Weyland-Yutani ship in Prodigy City, Wendy and other hybrids face alien life forms much more dangerous than anticipated. The tactical team sent to investigate the accident discovers a biological threat that could change the future of the planet forever. The series within the Alien chronology Alien: Earth acts as a prequel to the classic Alien: The Eighth Passenger, and is set two years before the events of the first film. In addition, it takes place 22 years before the events of Alien: Romulus. This position in the timeline allows exploring a less-explored universe: Earth in the future, in the midst of a corporate and technological era, expanding the saga's mythology and answering questions about government and human coexistence with new life forms. Approximate chronological order of the saga: Alien vs Predator Aliens vs Predator 2 Prometheus Alien: Covenant Alien: Earth Alien: The Eighth Passenger Alien: Romulus Aliens: The Return Alien 3 Alien: Resurrection   The creator and the challenge of adapting Alien to television Noah Hawley, creator and showrunner of the series, has emphasized the importance of capturing the essence of the franchise from the first episode. For Hawley, the most vital thing was for viewers to feel authenticity and recognize that the team deeply understands the Alien universe. The transition to television poses a challenge, as it's not just about prolonging the story, but about creating a rich experience in terms of characters and narrative that maintains tension and suspense. Hawley points out that the series seeks to "create the feeling of watching Alien for the first time," introducing new characters and expanding the universe without repeating patterns, all while respecting the original creations of Ridley Scott and H.R. Giger. Alien: Earth conquers with its trailerCreating anticipation The official trailer released months before the premiere has generated great anticipation among fans and critics. The combination of action, horror, and science fiction, along with the imposing arrival of a spaceship on Earth, anticipates an intense and visually impactful season. Outlander: Blood of My Blood – A journey betwee...

Outlander: Blood of My Blood The first episode of Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on Movistar Plus+ on August 9, 2025, just hours after its release in the US. The series will consist of 10 episodes, broadcast weekly every Saturday. Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts leads this production, alongside Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg as executive producers. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, with the same creative vision as the original series. The cast is headed by Harriet Slater (Ellen MacKenzie), Jamie Roy (Brian Fraser), Hermione Corfield (Julia Moriston), and Jeremy Irvine (Henry Beauchamp), who play the parents of Outlander's protagonists: Jamie and Claire, respectively. A prequel, two love stories, two intertwined eras Outlander: Blood of My Blood is presented as a standalone prequel that expands the saga's universe without requiring prior knowledge. The story begins with two parallel timelines, focusing on two parallel love stories connected by time.On one hand, Jamie Fraser's parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, star in a love story set in the Scottish Highlands in 1715... They experience their own drama amidst the Jacobite fervor. On the other hand, Claire Beauchamp's parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, live in England, devastated by World War I, and try to maintain their relationship amidst the chaos. However, a temporal accident causes Julia to wake up disoriented in 1715, altering the course of events. As she tries to adapt to her new environment, she begins to directly influence Ellen and Brian's story, unaware that her presence will alter her own daughter's future.   The symbolism of blood and violence The title Blood of My Blood evokes not only the deep family bond between generations, but also the sacrifice and violence that runs through history. In a world where war and conflict define destinies, weapons and struggle are an inseparable part of the narrative. Weaponry from two eras The Outlander series stands out for its historical accuracy, and one of its most notable aspects was the representation of weaponry from each era, so the same is expected for this prequel to the series. Since it is partially set in the 18th century, the most common firearms are muskets and pistols, and swords, which are still used both on the battlefield and for self-defense; so it can be expected that this season will include: Muskets: Smoothbore, muzzle-loading firearms that were slow to reload (about 30 seconds per shot), inaccurate, but very powerful. They were commonly used with bayonets and fired spherical lead bullets. Rifles: Rifled barrels offered greater accuracy and range than muskets. They used a smaller caliber and were less common in combination with bayonets. Flintlock pistols: Used a flint mechanism and were muzzle-loaded. They were short-range and slow to reload. Various models existed, such as dueling pistols, pirate pistols, and revolving barrel pistols, often decorated. Swords and bladed weapons: Longswords were common, as were curved sabers, which were preferred by officers. Knives and daggers were also used for both combat and daily tasks. For the period of World War I, weaponry evolved drastically towards more sophisticated and destructive firearms. Among the most prominent that could appear in the series are: Rifles: Such as the Lee-Enfield SMLE Mk III, with an effective range of 550 meters and a capacity of 15 rounds per minute. Bayonets: A type of knife attached to rifles, also used as a close-quarters combat tool. Shotguns: Used primarily in close-range combat, such as in trenches. Grenades: Hand-thrown or launched by catapults, they were lethal in confined spaces or against enemy defenses. Semi-automatic pistols: Used by officers and soldiers in close-quarters engagements, offering speed and ease of use. Light artillery: Included 18-pound field guns and mortars adapted to trench warfare conditions.   A science fiction historical romance Outlander: Blood of My Blood is presented as an exciting adventure that mixes love, history, conflict, and time travel. Its war-torn and romantic setting, its characters, and its meticulous historical reconstruction make it one of the big bets for 2025.   Don't forget to visit our Store and see all the products we have to offer you at Swords and More.

The Karate Kid: Legend, the new installment of ...

Karate Kid: A Legend Across Generations The legendary Karate Kid franchise returns with a new installment that connects generations, traditions, and martial arts styles. Karate Kid: Legends will premiere in Spanish cinemas on August 8, 2025, following its run in Mexico City and its debut in the United States and Canada in May. Its release was delayed due to the writers' and actors' strikes in 2023. This new film is a cinematic event that unites the classic and modern Karate Kid universes, with Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan reprising their iconic roles. The film aims to be a bridge between the original saga, the 2010 reboot, and the successful Netflix series Cobra Kai. Cast: Legends and New Promises The cast combines legendary figures with young talent.Jackie Chan reprises his role as Mr. Han, mentor from the 2010 version, while Ralph Macchio returns as Daniel LaRusso, the original protagonist.Young Ben Wang plays Li Fong, the new hero of this generation. The cast also includes: Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Wyatt Oleff, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Ming-Na Wen as Li's mother.   Synopsis and Central Message The story follows Li Fong, a kung fu prodigy teenager who moves from Beijing to New York after a family tragedy, facing grief, displacement, and bullying in a new environment.Although he tries to avoid conflict, when a friend needs help, Li decides to enter a karate competition. Mr. Han trains him with his usual discipline, but soon requests Daniel LaRusso's support to merge kung fu and karate styles. Through this shared teaching, Li will find inner balance and strength to face his fears and his past. The film explores themes such as respect, redemption, cultural migration, and self-improvement, recapturing the humanist spirit that made Karate Kid a contemporary fable. Connection to the Franchise and Cobra Kai Karate Kid: Legends acts as a bridge film linking the classic trilogy, the 2010 reboot, and the Cobra Kai series. It is set three years after the end of the sixth and final season of the series, and although it does not directly follow its plot, it reuses its universe for a new story.   Official Trailer The trailer shows key moments of the training between Li Fong, Mr. Han, and Daniel LaRusso, and anticipates an emotional evolution of the protagonist. The scenes highlight the fusion of martial arts styles and generations, combining action with moments of introspection.   Production and Curiosities The film was primarily shot in Montreal, Canada, which served to represent both New York and China, demonstrating the production team's adaptability. During filming, Jackie Chan dislocated his shoulder in an action scene, but surprised everyone by resetting it himself and continuing to film without pause, a moment that left the director amazed by his professionalism and resilience. It was directed by Jonathan Entwistle and the screenplay is by Rob Lieber, with music by Dominic Lewis. A Reinterpreted Legacy Karate Kid already existed since the 60s, and is a superhero who appears in the DC Comics universe, as a member of the young Legion of Superheroes, from whom they took the name and the character's Zen values that debuted in the 1984 film, directed by John G. Avildsen, who gave a new meaning to the title, transforming it into a symbol of inner growth with Daniel San (Macchio) and Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) as endearing figures. In Cobra Kai, the adult Daniel is shown to be more rigid, but that evolution adds nuances to the universe without betraying its essence.Karate Kid: Legends functions as an epilogue and renewal, with Li Fong as the spiritual heir to the legacy: a brilliant, shy young man marked by the trauma of having lost his older brother to violence. Karate Kid: Legends does not seek to revolutionize cinema, but to offer an honest, emotional story true to the heart of the franchise. With one eye on the past and the other on the future, it pays homage to its roots and proposes a story of healing, learning, and rediscovery. Because true victory is not in the trophy, but in the personal journey.   Don't forget to visit our Store, with a wide variety of products that may interest you, from collectibles to ideal items for practicing Martial Arts.

Countdown to the second season of “Wednesday”

Everything you need to know about the long-awaited return Wednesday, the series starring Jenna Ortega, will return in 2025 after the overwhelming impact of its debut. With 252 million views and over a billion hours watched in just three weeks, it has cemented itself as one of the most popular English-language productions in Netflix history. Its combination of dark humor, mystery, and gothic aesthetics, under the direction of Tim Burton, made it a true global phenomenon. The second season will air in two parts: the first will premiere in just a few hours, on August 6, while the second will premiere on September 3. Both will consist of four episodes and will be available exclusively on the platform. The first chapter is titled “Here We Woe Again.” Summary of the first season In the first installment, we met Wednesday Addams, sent to Never Again Academy after an incident with some classmates from her previous school. There, while discovering her psychic abilities, she becomes embroiled in a series of murders linked to a creature known as the Hyde. Over eight episodes, the protagonist investigates the crimes and unmasks Tyler as the monster and Laurel Gates as his controller, in a story that mixes intrigue, supernatural powers and a dark and disturbing family background. The finale left several plot points open: Tyler's escape, the death of Principal Weems, and a disturbing anonymous message on Wednesday's new cell phone. Official synopsis: A new course, new dangers The second season picks up the story of her return to the academy, facing new enemies, supernatural challenges, and secrets buried in the Addams family's history. According to the official Netflix synopsis, the young detective will experience another year of gothic chaos, where danger threatens not only the school but also the outside world. The season promises an emotional evolution for Wednesday, who will have to deal with her personal relationships and discover new nuances in her outlook on life. The trailer has already teased an even more sinister atmosphere, with creatures and mysteries to solve. Cast and new characters Jenna Ortega cements her place as the show's most iconic face. She's joined by Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia), Luis Guzmán (Gomez), Isaac Ordoñez (Pugsley), Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester), George Burcea (Largo), Emma Myers (Enid), Joy Sunday (Bianca), and Moosa Mostafa (Eugene). Percy Hynes White (Xavier) and Naomi J. Ogawa (Yoko) will not be returning. Instead, notable figures include Steve Buscemi (possibly the new director of Never Again), Billie Piper, Thandiwe Newton, Haley Joel Osment, Frances O'Connor, and Lady Gaga, who will make a cameo, according to Variety. The special participation of Christopher Lloyd is also confirmed. Production and filming The second season was filmed in Ireland between May and December 2024. Tim Burton returns as lead producer and maintains the series' signature visual aesthetic. Jenna Ortega, in addition to starring in the series, served as a producer for this season, with greater creative freedom granted by Netflix. According to the actress, this allowed her to "do things on a larger scale and delve deeper into the character's emotional development." Confirmation of the third season Netflix has officially confirmed a third season, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter and confirmed by the platform itself on its social media. Additionally, the possibility of a spin-off centered on new characters from the Wednesday universe is being considered. Ortega has indicated that the creative team is planning up to seven seasons, although they are open to adapting based on the evolution of the plot. According to Tim Burton, finding the ideal actress was key: "If we didn't find the right Wednesday, there was no show." The creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, emphasized that she was deeply involved in the scripts, displaying a holistic vision uncommon among actors. A growing cultural phenomenon Wednesday has not only been a success in views, but also in cultural impact. The viral dance to the song Goo Goo Muck on TikTok, the gothic aesthetic adopted by thousands of fans, and the revitalization songs like Lady Gaga's Bloody Mary are proof of the series' reach. Its protagonist, with sarcasm, intelligence, and magnetism, has connected with a new generation that eagerly awaits each installment. Are you already counting down the days until the new season? Does it look promising? If, on the other hand, you haven't seen the first one yet, I recommend you rush to do so. You can find this figure of Wednesday playing the Cello and much more in our Store .

Lightsabers and the Jedi: Guardians of a Galaxy...

Lightsabers Since its big screen debut in 1977, Star Wars has become a cultural phenomenon that has captured the imagination of millions. At the heart of this epic saga are the Jedi, mystical warriors who fight for peace and justice in the galaxy, empowered by the Force and armed with their iconic lightsabers. But what makes these characters so fascinating? Where do they come from, and what powers define them? The Origin of the Jedi: Guardians of Peace The Jedi have their roots in an ancient order of guardians dedicated to protecting wisdom and balance in the Force. The history of the Jedi begins centuries before the events of the films, where they established themselves in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, a hub of knowledge and training. Since its inception, the order has been a bastion of virtues such as courage, compassion, and dedication to peace, committing itself to training those who show sensitivity to the Force. A Jedi's training begins at a young age, educated in the principles of the Force and combat.Their training not only involves learning fighting skills but also a deep understanding of morality and ethics, ensuring that the power they possess is never used for selfishness or revenge. These ideals, instilled in Jedi culture, grant them a wisdom that transcends the powerful abilities they can manifest. (Photo of RGB Heavy Dueling Lightsabers 12 Colors, 10 Sound Sets, Gray Hilt With Oscillations - Star Wars) Lightsabers: Symbol of Hope and Power One of the most emblematic characteristics of the Jedi is their lightsaber, a weapon that is both a combat tool and a symbol of hope. These magnificent weapons are not only visually striking but also represent the Jedi's commitment to fighting for justice. The making of a lightsaber is a significant ceremony: each Jedi must construct their own using a kyber crystal, which not only provides energy to the sword but also deeply connects the Jedi to the Force. Each blade color – white, blue, green, red – is imbued with meaning, reflecting the nature and state of the wielder. While blue and green are the colors most commonly associated with the Jedi, red is a symbol of the Sith, their ancient enemies. However, regardless of the color, each lightsaber is unique and carries the history and essence of the Jedi who wields it. (Photo of RGB Heavy Dueling Lightsabers 12 colors, 16 Sound Sets, Black Metal Hilt - Star Wars) The Infinite Power of the Jedi The true power of the Jedi lies in their connection to the Force, a mystical energy that permeates everything in the universe. This connection allows them to perform incredible feats: moving objects with their minds, reading the thoughts of others, and even influencing people's perceptions. But, in addition to these abilities, the power of the Jedi lies in their ability to remain calm and balanced in times of uncertainty. The Jedi are, in essence, beacons of light in times of darkness. Their struggle is not only against tangible enemies but also against the corruption and fear that threaten to consume the galaxy. Through their self-discipline, compassion, and desire to protect, the Jedi inspire others to find their own strength and to fight for a better future. (Photo of Replica ForceFX Rey Skywalker Elite Lightsaber Star Wars) The Legacy of the Jedi Lightsabers and the power of the Jedi are more than elements of a science fiction story; they are symbols of struggle and hope that resonate in the hearts of those who have followed their adventures. In a world full of challenges and adversities, the story of the Jedi reminds us of the value of choosing light over darkness; not turning our backs on injustice, nor betraying our principles. As the echoes of this saga continue, the legacy of the Jedi endures, reminding us all that, although the path may be difficult, each of us has the ability to make a difference, to be a guardian of peace in our own personal galaxies. Deep down, we can all be Jedi.   Don't miss all the Star Wars products we have in our store.

The Immortals: The Master's Blade and the Etern...

Highlander The Highlander saga has fascinated generations with its blend of action, fantasy, and philosophical exploration of immortality. While fans mostly recognize Connor MacLeod, portrayed by Christopher Lambert, and Duncan MacLeod, embodied by Adrian Paul, one question lingers among the most dedicated followers: are there any other immortal MacLeods in the universe? This article not only answers that question but also explores the essential figure of Connor's mentor, Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, his iconic sword, his training, and the legacy he left on the original Highlander, his importance in Connor's life, and why Connor considers him part of his clan. (Both Ramirez and Connor, as well as Duncan, have a strong relationship with katanas and their meaning. Here is an image illustrating the difference between the hilt of Ramirez's Katana, and Duncan's Katana, which we have discussed previously) Are there other MacLeods besides Connor and Duncan? Within the Highlander universe, the only officially confirmed immortal MacLeods are Connor and Duncan. Both belong to the Scottish MacLeod clan, although they were born in different years. Connor was born in 1518 in the Scottish Highlands, while Duncan was born in 1592, also in Scotland.Despite sharing a surname and similar origins, they are not directly related by direct bloodline, which is consistent with the nature of immortality. However, there are rumors among fans and some mentions in comics and novels of characters who could be part of the MacLeod lineage, but none have been canonized in the movies or series. Therefore, officially, only Connor and Duncan represent that clan among the immortals. Connor MacLeod's mentor:Ramirez, the eternal teacher Connor's story changes radically when, after surviving a mortal wound in battle, he discovers he cannot die.Rejected by his clan and considered a demon, his life takes a turn with the arrival of Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an enigmatic immortal who becomes his mentor. Ramírez, masterfully portrayed by Sean Connery, is an experienced swordsman born in ancient Egypt, who has lived for over 2,000 years. He teaches Connor not only how to fight, but also to understand what it means to be immortal. He explains the rules of "the Game," the eternal struggle between immortals where only one can remain and claim "the Prize," and he warns him about Kurgan, a powerful evil immortal who seeks to eliminate all others to gain absolute power. Ramírez's sword is, like all katanas, a curved and extremely sharp blade; with a gilded and ornate tsuba (handguard), its hilt is wrapped in leather and red silk, with decorative details that reveal the refined art of ancient Japan. The scabbard, black with gilded details, contrasts with the shiny silver blade, forged from exceptionally high-quality steel.   Symbolism and power The katana represents more than a simple combat tool. In Highlander, swords reflect the soul of their wielders. Ramírez, though Egyptian by birth, adopted samurai traditions during his centuries of travels and learning. The choice of a katana represents his philosophy of balance, honor, and precision in combat.By bequeathing it to Connor, he also transfers his legacy and wisdom. (Photo of the Highlander katana set 11034) Connor's training Ramírez teaches Connor how to fight with a sword, to perceive the energy of other immortals, to connect with nature, and to control his emotions. He instills in him that immortality is not a blessing without consequences. He talks about the pain of watching loved ones die, and the loneliness that comes with the gift of not aging. Through tough training sessions, Connor learns advanced fencing techniques, meditation, and philosophy. This knowledge prepares him to face Kurgan, the most feared enemy of all immortals.

3D Chess: The Legendary Three-Dimensional Chess...

A new game emerged from Star Trek If you're a Star Trek fan, you've surely found yourself watching Captain Kirk and Spock play more than once. But what they were playing wasn't the classic chess we all know, but a futuristic variant known as three-dimensional chess or 3D chess, and here we'll tell you all its secrets.   Origin of Three-Dimensional Chess It first appeared in the original Star Trek series during the 1960s. Initially, the board was merely a decorative object with no official rules. But in the 1970s, a fan named Andrew Bartmess developed a set of rules inspired by the board's design that appeared in the Star Fleet Technical Manual (1976). Later, other enthusiasts like James Dixon and Floyd C. West proposed more detailed variants, consolidating a game system that remains valid today among collectors and fans. What does a 3D chess board look like? It consists of seven levels, distributed as follows: 3 fixed boards of 4x4 squares, arranged in a staggered formation. 4 mobile boards of 2x2 squares, which can change position during the game. What makes this board special, and also gives it its name, is that, although the total number of squares is still 64 (as in classic chess), these are distributed across different planes. Fixed and mobile levels: how do they move? Fixed boards: These are the main boards, divided into lower, middle, and upper levels, and they remain immobile throughout the game. Most of the initial game takes place here. Mobile boards: These are 2x2, also called "attack platforms," and can move under certain conditions: They can only move if they are empty or if they contain a single unsupported pawn. They can be moved from one fixed level to another, as long as one corner remains aligned. They can also move to an adjacent corner on the same level or to another fixed board above or below. This allows players to create paths, block pieces, or escape dangerous situations, adding a completely new dimension to the strategy. (Photo of the Star Trek Three-Dimensional Chess, NN1525) Piece Movement Most pieces retain their classic movements, but adapted to the three-dimensional environment. Here are some key rules: Pieces must move according to their usual pattern from a top-down view, but they can change levels in the process. The king can castle, if not in check and classic conditions are met. The queen and rook can change levels if there is a clear path. The bishop moves diagonally between levels, provided the angle allows it. The knight can "jump" from one board to another, just as it would on a flat board. Pawns can move up levels with special rules, and some can even move like queens if they are on the central level (depending on certain variants).   What is the objective of 3D chess? The objective remains the same as in any chess game: to checkmate the enemy king, but it requires greater strategic capacity. The opponent can hide their king on another level, protect it with mobile boards, or launch a check from an upper plane. How to play? A brief step-by-step guide 1. Preparation Place the three fixed boards in a staggered arrangement. Position the mobile boards in the upper corners of the fixed boards. Place the pieces as in traditional chess, starting with the bottom board (white) and the top board (black). 2. Turns of play Each player moves one piece per turn. Movement can be on the same level or between levels, if permitted. A mobile board can also be moved if the conditions are met. 3. Captures and checks Pieces can capture as in classic chess, even between levels. Check can come from any plane, so you must be alert from all directions. 4. Mobile boards: strategy in motion They can be moved if they contain no more than one pawn. You can reposition them to clear a path for your pieces, isolate the enemy king, or protect against a threat. Some variants allow moving a board as a special action every few turns.   Strategy and complexity Three-dimensional chess demands a different way of thinking. Here are some basic tips: Visualize in 3D: don't just think horizontally, think vertically. Control connections: there are key squares that allow moving up or down between levels. Use mobile boards to block routes or set ambushes. Protect your king at height, but don't isolate him. The game becomes more tactical, more unpredictable, and offers a depth that classic chess fans will appreciate. Over the years, multiple versions have emerged, from variants for three players to those designed by artificial intelligence, demonstrating that the appeal of this new modality, far from remaining merely aesthetic on screen and in scenery, has become an undeniable global phenomenon. Sometimes things go far beyond what one can imagine. What started as a simple ambient idea is now a game that you can all play.
