Materials and finishes

The blade of the Functional Katana Frog is hand forged from high-quality K120C steel, which ensures long life and superior strength. The folded steel ensures greater strength and flexibility, making it perfect for everyday work and for demonstrating fencing technique.

The Saya has been painted a deep black to contrast with the greyish green of the Sageo. A high quality ray skin (Same) has been used for the Tsuka, and the Tsuka Ito is made from a dark Japanese cotton, giving a perfect contrast to highlight the beauty of the blade. The Tsuba, made from blackened iron, features gold and silver details that make the frog depicted on it even more impressive.

The bronze detailing on the Fuchi and Kashira creates a beautiful, contrasting black effect, while the Kojiri, Koiguchi and Kurikata are made from polished buffalo horn to create additional contrast and beauty.
