Definition of Softcombat

Softcombat is a combat sport in which participants use soft weapons to strike each other. Soft weapons are made of materials such as foam, latex, or rubber, and are designed to reduce the risk of injury.

Who created softcombat?: Softcombat originated in live action role-playing games (LARP), in which participants play fictional characters in a simulated environment. In traditional LARPs, participants use metal weapons and armor, which can be dangerous.

TYPES OF SOFTCOMBAT

We can talk about different types depending on their purpose and objectives:

Softcombat in Larp: This is the softcombat used in live role-playing events. It combines classic and interpretive combat. It is the most widespread modality and the most similar to the original system. It is the most widespread, but there are no standardized criteria for safety, measures or combat rules. It depends on the setting of the live role-playing and the rules of the organizers of each event.

Sports Softcombat: This is a recent modality, originated in Spain and has expanded a lot in recent years, especially in Latin America. It focuses on a sports competition with rules unrelated to live role-playing, seeking a more technical combat style. This modality is used in tournaments or exhibition events.

Modern sword fighting: This is the most intense and aggressive form of fighting, and can be compared to Hema combat or bohurt. Softcombat Rules How to play?

Security:

• Mandatory protection: Helmet, chest protector, gloves and sturdy footwear are essential. Some disciplines add elbow, knee or weapon-specific protectors.

• Padded Weapons: Weapons must be safe, made from non-injury materials such as foam, fabric and rigid PVC. There are regulations for size, weight and construction depending on the weapon.

• Allowed hits: In general, only hits with the flat end of weapons are allowed in permitted areas such as the torso, arms and legs. Hits to the head, neck, genitals and joints are prohibited.

• Fair play: Sportsmanship is key. Rough contact, pushing, foul language and dishonest strategies are frowned upon.

Combat:

• Point system: Valid hits add points to the attacker and can reduce the opponent's life until he is eliminated.

• Individual or group fights: Some formats are 1v1, others allow teams.
